Another day, another deck, another dub. I built this deck as a joke when MTGA gave me a playset of Verazol, then tested it when I got demote protection, and immediately started spamming it to Diamond rank. Have you ever wanted to know how to make your opponent rage? Inscription of Insight + Tazeem Roilmage + Verazol, the Split Current has your back.

Some key cards that take this as weird gimmicky concept to viable control:

  • Bubble Snare is of course a decent tapdown card, with a Vine Gecko on the board it not only costs no more than a Waterknot but you get some extra value out of it, as well as the flexibility to cast for one mana if you're stalling early and just need to keep something off your back while you wait for draws.

  • Into the Roil is great not only for making your opponents have to burn a pile of mana or interrupting their flow but the draw power from a kick is nice for digging to your key cards and triggering some free buffs.

  • Lullmage's Familiar + Roost of Drakes offers some quick sustain, ramp and board control in a pinch, and you'll feel really good about sitting for an extra turn or 2 just to kick another spell.

  • Verazol is of course the cornerstone of the deck, but it can still function surprisingly well without having one. Don't feel bad for playing it at x=2 and just using it to duplicate 2 spells instead of as a blocker. Getting another Roost of Drakes on the board is absolutely worth it.
