Double Masters —Aug. 3, 2020

Only 1 major change for this set and a couple vanity changes. Vanity changes are the secret lair Nissa, that stained glass art is awesome; and finally getting my favorite forest ever for my basics. John Avon's unhinged lands are amazing and with Double Masters we finally get affordable versions of them.

Now as for the important stuff: Dropped:

Added:

  • Crop Rotation - 1 mana instant that gets any land I need at the cost of a basic or fetchland. The new printing made getting a foil much more affordable.

I'm just realizing now that you have an infinite mana combo with Kogla, the Titan Ape, Karametra's Acolyte (given a devotion to green of at least 7), and Concordant Crossroads. Simply tap the Acolyte for 7, activate Kogla's ability (there is now 5 floating) - return the Acolyte to your hand, and cast the Acolyte again. Now, you have one mana remaining. If you have the Crossroads out, you can simply activate the Acolyte's ability again!

Good catch! I shall add that to my combo list. Thanks!

Your dedication to this deck, (and this is coming from someone who dedicates an absurd amount of time to EDH builds,) is truly remarkable.

I'll be visiting mono-green on the road to everything Sultai. I have a Kamahl, Fist of Krosa and tinkered with the idea of building it out, since his Pit Fighter card was one of my first pulls.

I was immediately amused with the idea of a fight deck with a retired Pit Fighter at its head punching trees, as a play on this card's occupational namesake. Your deck certainly shines a spotlight on the merits of keeping this deck clean and not fisting everyone's mana base. Excellent build!

I can't imagine what interesting green card I might stumble across that could have possibly escaped you on this exhaustive journey of yours. If I find anything interesting in the forest, I'll send it your way as a thank you for the inspiration.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I'm always looking for suggestions and upgrades. I look forward to anything you send my way.

Since you already value Kamahl as a mana dump, Thornbite Staff makes a repeatable lumberjack of him, adding to his abilities 2G: Chop down a tree.

As I've only looked at Kamahl quickly and from a rather degenerate point of view, most of my current offerings would be, like this, out of the spirit of your brew, but as a single card rather than a direction, this one might offer you an alternate dump in situations where your creatures don't have adequate reach, or are absent from the board.

Will circle back to you with more table-friendly suggestions once I've theory crafted green in greener directions ;)

I've been toying with the idea of doing a more control based build with heavy land destruction. This will definitely make that cut.

Long time no speak. As others and myself have stated, this deck is solid. I wish I had a suggestion, but today I have a question. What is the purpose of Questing Beast, is it a meta card based on white prevention or PW running rampant? I dont see its benefit nor synergy. Also not sure if discussed, but how is Praetor's Counsel working for you at the moment?

Profet93, Questing Beast is indeed a meta card. There's an atraxa deck that is planeswalker heavy, but I run it mostly because our meta is creature intense. Due to that, most decks run fog type spells. So while not overly synergistic with the deck, Questing Beast is a necessary evil to make sure I kill whoever I swing at.

Praetor's Counsel has been invaluable and has help me bounce back from board wipes and win quite a few games.
