For some reason, I'm the guy everybody goes to to learn how to play magic. This has become such a common occurrence that I decided to build a series of beginner decks, designed to be played against each other and be relatively simple. I used a few rules to guide myself:- all 7 basic card types must be represented- no more than 3 rares (including the mandatory planeswalker)- total deck value should be minimal (no more than $30)- keywords (e.g. lifelink, trample, etc.) must be explained on the card via reminder text.

The blue deck is an idea that I've liked for a while. Thran golem offers so much value in a combo deck that I had to play with Curiosity and Sigil of Sleep. It controls, taps, and bounces its way to victory.
