UMA Update —June 14, 2019

And now the last Aristocrat has gone. Cartel Aristocrat makes way for the now-modern-legal Carrion Feeder. At a full mana cheaper and further reducing our white mana reliance, it just makes too much sense. The Aristocrat could sneak a few points of damage in via protection from X, but we'll see if the Feeder can grow with counters and also present some kind of threat in the occasional game.

Rally still makes running white worthwhile, but the land base could need a review, although it does run pretty well already.

The deck also adds two Cruel Celebrant and drops the other utility creatures. It's very much a streamlined game plan now, probably too much, but with a decent draw, it can punish many decks that don't have reasonable answers. The Celebrant adds white mana back in, but with only two copies in the deck, the hope is to see one in the flop from Collected Company, rather than in your hand.

I really like the ingenuity here! Have you considered Nissa, Voice of Zendikar as a green Bitterblossom or an alternative way to give you beaters? Bitterblossom is bossome in general. I used her and in my experience she worked great. I really like the Young Wolf--that is entirely new to me. +1 I generally run Blisterpod, but he is wayyyyyyyy more aggressive.

Thanks for the comment :) Young Wolf is great - the fact that is comes back as a full creature (vs as a token, like Blisterpod/Tukatongue/Traveler) is a big deal. I used to run 4x Blisterpod and 4x Doomed Traveler, but took them out to add in Chords and Witnesses - the trade off is some very aggressive draws with the one-drops against a much more resilient plan with the green cards. I also switched the remaining Blisterpods with Tukatongues so that the Evangels have more targets and Chord has more to convoke with. Will see what works best!

Nissa and Bitterblossom are great at adding bodies, but have a couple of issues: i) they're not creatures <4 CMC, so dilute CoCo's odds and ii) they take time to kick in - the cards I'm looking for can give a lot of value quickly (Evangel and Pawn are the two 'value' slots for now and both can effectively double the number of bodies that can be used to trigger a Blood Artist).

Ideally, I'd love to add Sprouting Thrinax (four bodies for three mana!), but don't really want to add red. I do have a fun Jund version that runs Sprouting Thrinax, Mogg War Marshal and Greater Gargadon though...

I like this list alot!

Have you tested Eldritch Evolution at all?

I run a standard aristocrats list with it in it currently and it is VERY good.
