Hello onehitterquiter! I had a lot of the Madness cards of the initial draft, but quickly found out through testing that they made the deck play a lot different than what I'm trying to do. Madness cards want your enabler (in this case Psychatog ) to live for several turns in order to accrue value from them, in contrast with what Tog wants to be doing, which is out-tempoing an opponent and then one-shotting them. Stinkweed Imp seems like a pretty good value creature that can come back to hold off oppossing fliers while filling the graveyard, and Death Denied seems like a good engine. However, having so few creatures and also wanting to fit in Grim Harvest , I fear a worse Death Denied in Shattered Crypt isn't going to cut it for now. Helm of the Ghastlord doesn't protect nor provide unblockability, is very easy to 2-for-1 since it costs 4 mana, and won't provide much value if we want to one-shot the opponent. Vanishing is interesting as an extra protection piece.

Nice list! You might consider giving these cards a try: Stinkweed Imp , Death Denied , Shattered Crypt , Call to the Netherworld , Dark Withering , Grave Scrabbler , Psychotic Episode , Helm of the Ghastlord , Vanishing

I feel like Shattered Crypt is just a bad card in this deck. If you want to have a better chance at getting Death Denied remove the Crypt and run a Shred Memory. Then you can transmute for the Death Denied or even transmute for anything in the 24.6% of your deck that has a converted mana cost of . I don't remember seeing Death Denied in your list. I probably overlooked it. Your response was as if it had always been in there.

IMO: I would play Death Denied over Shattered Crypt

I am trying to build my own mono-black deck and couldn't resist seeing what you've done here. I didn't quite understand what you were trying to from looking at the cards and your description. I've been out of Magic for 15 years and only slowly picking things back up.
I kept looking for some way to bring cycle creatures back from the graveyard. But it doesn't seem like the deck is built to do that outside of the Driver of the Dead. I will say that after playtesting the deck once I quickly saw how quick you could pump the Carrion Feeder and was quite impressed. I like the synergy with some of the cards, especially Sultai Emissary.
However, I can't help but feel like this deck needs something like Ghoulcaller's Chant, Disturbed Burial, Death's Duet, Soul Strings or Shattered Crypt. Maybe something like Innocent Blood would be interesting as well. These are ideas off the top of my head. I'd like to see if there is a pauper creature that returns creatures from graveyard in a useful fashion too. I'll keep thinking about this...
