King of the Oathbreakers
Legendary Creature — Spirit Noble
Flying
Whenever King of the Oathbreakers or another Spirit you control becomes the target of a spell, it phases out. (Treat it and anything attached to it as though it doesn't exist until its controller's next turn.)
Whenever King of the Oathbreakers or another Spirit you control phases in, create a tapped 1/1 White Spirit creature token with flying.

Both spells would be countered by the rules of the game for having no legal targets (fizzle) if they target a King of the Oathbreakers who subsequently phases out. This means that no token will be created. However; if they fail to destroy the creature for another reason (let's say an Armor of Shadows in response) the token will still be created.

I was wondering if any spell like Generous Gift or Reduce to Memory would still create the token if it targets King of the Oathbreakers, as it phases out when being target of a spell.

King of the Oathbreakers' ability says "becomes the target of a spell" not "becomes the target of a spell or ability" so abilities can still successfully target your spirits.
Oblivion Ring has an ETB ability that targets, it does not target as a spell and can successfully remove a spirit.
Auras target as spells and so Dead Weight will cause the spirit it targets to phase out.

I’m looking forward to building a new EDH deck with King of the Oathbreakers as my CMDR and I would like some clarification on how his phasing ability interacts with auras and enchantments. Does Oblivion Ring still work to remove one of my spirits? Or could someone kill one of my spirit tokens with Dead Weight ? Thanks in advance :)

I was playing a King of the Oathbreakers CMDR in my pod and an interesting interaction arose.
King of the Oathbreakers & Horobi, Death's Wail are both on field under my control. I cast Cauldron Haze targeting every creature on the board. Horobi's ability triggers first to destroy every creature, then King of the Oathbreakers triggers ontop to phase's out my spirits. Nothing else is added to the stack. Since Horobi is to be treated like doesn't exist - phasing's exact wording- when we reach it's trigger on the stack, does it still destroy all targeted creatures from Cauldron Haze? Or am I stacking the triggers wrong?

My extremly niche grievance with this product is that King of the Oathbreakers makes it unlikely we'll ever have white Teferi's Veil, even though that would help tokens and go-wide creatures in general in EDH a lot.

Scapegoat requires a spare token or something, but it's only one mana
Clever Concealment can be made free trough Convoke, although too bad the tokens come in tapped
Eerie Interlude is obviously a thing too
(Global King of the Oathbreakers shoutout)
