Which deck to build next?

I’m looking to build my 4th deck sometime in the future but I want it to be different from my usual play style. So no spellslinger or tribal decks. I have Kykar, Wind's Fury , Adeliz, the Cinder Wind , and a Akiri, Fearless Voyager Samurai deck that I’m still putting the finishing touches on.

As you can see I have no green or black decks so I was hoping to use those two colors. So either Golgari or a 3 color deck with those two colors.

So far I’ve came up with a Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons deck and a Glissa, the Traitor deck. Out of those two I like Hapatra more although I would like an artifact deck too.

Anyone have suggestions for what I should build next? Either one of those two? Or maybe something completely different?

Dragons are always fun, Scion of the Ur-Dragon for more comboish synergized deck, or just the Ur-Dragon himself for way more aggressive plays. Of course this tends to get expensive, as the 5 color manabase, the need for fetch lands arise, but budget decks are always fun to commandeer.

Ghave, Guru of Spores is always fun, and Meren of Clan Nel Toth might be a consideration.

I've had great experiences with Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons (I've been playing her since she was released), but that deck gets into a lot of token-based shenanigans which may be too Kykar-esque for your liking.

Muldrotha may be an option too. You get all the sweet golgari stuff +blue

Muldrotha for sure.

Yeah I didn’t consider the token theme being similar but that’s true. Meren of Clan Nel Toth and Muldrotha, the Gravetide both look like a lot of fun to play. I think I like Muldrotha the most out of those two.

I’ll come up with a list later and see what I think.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

I play Muldrotha since release and it’s a blast to play. You also can play her in a lot of different ways Hardhitta7

Pikobyte yeah I think it will be fun! My first thought was evoking Mulldrifter and then playing it from the graveyard later and Shriekmaw too.

What do you all think about Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord ? Looks like a blast to play.

I recommend Hapatra. I feel that the token shenanigans are different enough that it won't feel similar to Kykar.

Welcome to the world of green/black.

Not a big fan of Jarad, personally. For yor first G/B deck, stick with Muldrotha, the Gravetide or another reanimator commander like Nethroi, Apex of Death .

Right now I’m between Hapatra and Jarad. Maybe Muldrotha, but the mana base would be really expensive.

If you don’t mind me asking, 1empyrean what do you not like about Jarad?

Also I would consider tribal decks if they play differently than ones I have experience with. My Adeliz is a Wizard deck, I have a Samurai deck now, and I’ve had vampires in the past.

One I was considering is Jirina Kudro humans.

Jarad doesn't appeal to me because he provides little benefit that can't be found elsewhere. That doesn't mean he's not good, but I personally look for commanders that need to be built in a particular way. Limitations breed creativity and all that.

I see, appreciate the reply.

From what I’ve seen Jarad wants to be built with a bunch of creatures that have p/t = cards in the graveyard. And ways to bring them back and keep sac’ing them. Seemed interesting at the least.
