I am thinking about making a RG deck...

Standard Deck Help forum

I want to play at my LGS using red spells and green spells. The idea I have in mind of strategy is cast some creatures and build up on them with counters and artifact stuff. Looking to keep the deck below $60. What is a good starting point?

if you want to build up, maybe you could go with red green energy? Longtusk Cub seems to fit your description of casting some creatures and building them up, artifacts could come from Implement of Ferocity (also artifact source), or the puzzleknots.

i made a decklist under 60 dollars, with sideboard included, the deck would go over 60 dollars, mostly because the lands add a lot of price.

black & green counters is a popular deck in standard atm, because Winding Constrictor is super strong. red / green energy was a thing for quite a bit (Electrostatic Pummeler, Voltaic Brawler, Bristling Hydra, Uncaged Fury, Blossoming Defense ect...) it was an extremely explosive deck...though not very consistent. Additionally the meta has shifted and there's lots more combo/control now. I think if you are gonna try to make a +1/+1 counter deck it should have at least a splash of black, if for nothing else, Winding Constrictor and a few Fatal Push.

Both make excellent points, I considered adding evasion into the topic like thopters

I agree with at least splashing black for Winding Constrictor it produces tons of value, and is suprisingly resilient
