Grave Pact is back in Standard, y'all.

Cost more than Grave Pact , but also more playable in multiple colors. Also, not sure what the benefit is for flash. Iffy...

I'm REALLY hoping that this allows a new aristocrats type deck to emerge, though it might be too expensive.

the5ervant true but it only requires 2 black to play (alongside the 3 colorless, of course) whereas Grave Pact is 3 black but only 1 colorless additional.

I think it's a good card but I don't play standard so there are just better options

Flash does go a long ways towards making its high cost easier to ignore (you can leave up removal or maybe even countermagic, then if there's nothing to do, just eot it). I look forward to casting this bad boy mid combat.

...Opponent casts an overloaded Mizzium Mortars ...

FLASH!

Dictate of Erebos

....the 1 sided board wipe becomes a 2 sided board wipe.

No, Rayenous, it's still one-sided since you have two Cartel Aristocrat s with pro red :P.

Dat art doe...

Decent card. Good to see that mono black control can still be a powerhouse post rotation... -_-

Benefit for flash? Obvious: use it as a combat trick to turn chump blocks into trades or trades into 2-for-1s. Or in response to a kill spell to make that kill spell a 2-for-1 instead.

I am pretty happy about this one for sure. Will very likely find a home in my 1v1 EDH deck right alongside Grave Pact . "1 of mine for 2 of yours."The 2 devotion is nice as well.

I'm thinking.... Mono-Black with the Dictate, Dark Prophecy , and a sac outlet... perhaps using Tenacious Dead ?

Makes the 1/1 deathtouch snakes from Pharika, God of Affliction so much deadlier. And yes, as I've already decided my next standard deck will include Cartel Aristocrat and Xathrid Necromancer , this card will be a fine addition.

Dictate of Erebos says, "Yes, I'll sac a creature to tap down your Desecration Demon , every chance I get!".
:)
And hopefully, I get either my Athreos, God of Passage or my Pharika, God of Affliction out to assist with that.

I don't know if this fits in the same deck as pharika. A little durdle is good, but single deck can only handle so much lol.

...let's see...

I lose my creature... you sac one.
Now I pay, B/G to get a 1/1 death touch and block a creature... you lose the attacker... and have to sac another creature.

I like 3 for 1's!

I think it's tailor made to work with either of the 3-drop Gods from this set... probably not both in the same deck, but who knows.

I'm just saying that both dictate and pharika do virtually nothing on their own, and each require a critical mass of creatures to really get going. Considering you are also probably going to want discard/removal (also eating into the creature count) I can't see there being enough room for both.

Come on now. Shadowborn Apostle 's + Athreos, God of Passage + Dictate of Erebos. Do you want to pay 18 life so these can go to the graveyard? Oh btw, you sack 6 and incoming demon!
