Where did your TappedOut user name come from?

Social forum

I'll start.

I am a massive Xena fan.

The name of Xena's horse is Argo.

That was my real life nickname for a while, until everyone started calling me Argy instead. Pronounced "ah-jee".

I play video games a lot and my gamer name is always Argy.

If I can't reserve the user name Argy on a site I will go with Argeaux, which is sort of a jokey, fake "French" version of Argo.

Profet93 says... #2

In the old testament, there was someone Called Natan the Prophet (my name is Nathan, Hebrew name Natan).

I used to pretend that I could predict the future when I was younger since I am very good in psychology (graduated with a BA in it at UCLA 2 years ago).

I was so good at it, my cousin pretended that I could "profit" from it.

I wanted to be a little different, and not focus on the "prophet" or "profit," so I chose "profet"

93 is my birth year

HorseFist came from a mis-read of Breaching Hippocamp's creature type.

I especially love the word/phrase for at least 2 reasons: makes me think of a cavalry-heavy army, kind of like Dothraki(sp?) in GoT, but even more b/c it can draw forth the image of a prolonged 2-person brawl "I kept hitting him over & over until my fists became hoarse" - speaking with hands gets a whole new meaning ; p

Excellent idea for thread/forum subject!!

Qolorful came from my league of legends team, where all of our usernames were different words replacing a c with a q, I.e. Qrayons, qreative, marqers

Ryjo says... #5

Back in high school, a friend started came up with the nickname "RyJo the Destroyer", which is a portmanteau of my first and last names with an epithet based on my size (I was 6'3" at the time) and how rough I could be during gym class (I was very competitive in gym, but especially so in floor hockey and basketball). I liked the name, and it caught on quickly with other kids in my class as well as with the teachers, so I've kind of carried the name with me to this day.

Nowadays, when signing up for a site or anywhere with a username, I gravitate towards some form of RyJo, though there are some usernames that I've had since before the nickname that I still use and would never part with.

Storytime.

Back in high school (ie 9 years ago), we used to play video games at lunch, like Age of Empires and this world war two tank game thing. Both of them required you to enter a nickname for the multiplayer. There was one I used for a week or so, and I think I vaguely recollect talking to this person using the in game chat, but what I now realise was trolling, and then they stormed in to the room and were like who the hell is this . I immediately changed my nickname and joined a new game. The name I typed out, Guftders, has stayed with me ever since.

Mine is from the old WWII slogan killroy was here. You'd find it drawn onto bombs, and interestingly enough on the WII memorial in Washington DC. The numbers are random they came from my first email account and stayed with me since.

I have absolutely no idea where mine came from. It's just been my username for everything, from Minecraft to Gmail, since I was little.

Pygmyrhino990 says... #11

So one time I was watching a documentary and there was some rhino family and then one of the rhinos had a birth defect making it not grow up (thus a pygmy). I really sympathised with the pygmyrhino especially when it got eaten by something. The 990 means nothing at all, other than that once pygmyrhino was taken so I needed numbers and 990 was suggested by the site. The name has been a favourite since.

guessling says... #12

My name has layered meaning. I only use it here.

I like playing blue and trying to guess what my opponents are thinking and holding and drawing.

At the time I made the name, I had just been told by a gradschool professor that I was "just guessing" after he tried to tear me down publicly even though I had answered his questions correctly. I then began taking that situation progressively less seriously at an accelerating rate until calling myself "guessling" sounded funny to me in mockery of the silliness.

I wonder how obvious my shade of blue is not quite exactly like the original text color. Like - did she customize that name or not? I don't know, I'm going to have to guess.

My name should be kinda obvious. I don't know where I got the idea for it in particular, but we all know what Filthy Casual means, and since filthycasual was already taken, I switched the A to a 4.

Stormcaller says... #14

My name is from Warhammer 40k's Njal Stormcaller, greatest Runepriest of the Space Wolves.

I chose this name because I'm a big WH40k lore nut. I've been thinking about doing WH inspired decks but I'm missing the Inspiration.

chirz2792 says... #15

Mine came from a friend spelling my name wrong. I was in high school and we were on break so we were just hanging out constantly. I had slept over at his house and we wanted to see if he could sleep over at mine so I was texting my mom when he said "let me do it I text faster". So I did and he spelled my name chirz instead of Chris. It just kind of stuck and I've used it ever since. 27 is the day of the month my birthday is on and 92 is the year I was born.

AkadeannaH says... #21

AkadeannaH is a character that I play in the roleplay sites that I run. The Akadeanna doesn't mean Also Known As Deanna; Akadeanna is a madeup (by me) Egyptian name that means Beautiful Flower.

The H in it stands for Hawk as the character's name is Akadeanna Hawk.
