Miracles U/W Control

Hey everyone! I've been playing U/W Control with a Gideon tribal theme for awhile and now I want to try the Miracles version. This is the list I came up with. I noticed a lot of decks run Opt over Serum Visions, but to me Serum Visions seems better because it can set you up for a Miracle'd Terminus which is what makes the deck so good. I also threw in Entreat the Angels, and then left he sideboard the same. For reference, here's both decks so you can see the changes I made.

Gideon U/W Control vs. Miracles U/W Control

I'm also wondering if I should run Damping Sphere in the sideboard to hate on Tron since the Miracles version doesn't run Spreading Seas, although I did add a Ghost Quarter for that reason in place of the 5th fetchland.

Opt lets you draw that Terminus during their turn, as well as letting you hold mana up more effectively, as well as scrying pre-draw.

I've been playing UW since well before the swap to Terminus. Gideon just pales in comparison to Teferi and Jace. Those two churn out value and let you get to your sideboard cards much more reliably.

If you're running multiple Termini, you need Opt. Serum Visions is still ok if you're running a split in verdict and terminus. Opt is generally better. I can't believe I'm saying that, but it's true. It's taken me months to get to this point.

For reference, I'm currently running this list.

Wouldn't it be best to run both Opt and Serum Visions? I understand that Opt allows you to possibly instant speed a Terminus but being able to know that you'll Miracle a Terminus by setting up your draws with Serum Visions also seems pretty powerful. I haven't playtested this version yet but to me it seems like it would make sense to run both.

Also, why do lists run Lyra Dawnbringer and Baneslayer Angel in the sideboard and why one of each instead of just two of one? They're both pretty much identical. The only reason I can see is for game 2 after your opponent drops their spot removal. Are the specific matchups where those 2 shine?

ArchonBlue because lyra is legendary. and puting both on board is devastatingly fun. :) baneslayer is strictly better than lyra if both are alone.. :)

if you have 2 lyra on hand you cant put both on the fied..

if you have 2 baneslayer on board you will only have 2 5/5 angels..

but with lyra and baneslayer you get a 6/6 and a 5/5

On paper, running a bunch of cantrips seems great. You get to run fewer lands and get to dig for your key cards faster, right? However, the deck has a tendency to have openers like 4 lands, 2 cantrips, and a Jace. Not a bad hand, right? It's really hard to tell if that's good tho, because the cantrips actually hide information and they take up early turns. Being stuck casting a bunch of cantrips when you're facing a Goblin Guide or a Thalia, Guardian of Thraben feels awful. I've seen some Jeskai lists go up as many as 6 cantrips and occasionally run even cards like Peek but they're able to play a much lower curve and leverage their ability to play at instant speed more.

So no, running both Visions and Opt isn't ideal. You could run a split, but what's the point? They serve different funtions, so the choice is largely based on your boardwipes.
