Commander Deck Help forum

So I need some help guys, I want to design a budget edh deck that uses as many of the royalty related mechanics as possible. Things such as the monarch and dethrone, and any group decision based or modal cards. Ideally the commander should be Queen Marchesa but if there are any better suggestions fire away.

I'd love to help you here, but I don't know anything about how monarch and dethrone work, or what they really mean.

I'm curious, why use Queen Marchesa? She gains benefit from your opponents being the Monarch, yet with the deck you're trying to build, you will probably be the Monarch most of the time. It seems she is quite possibly the worst choice for what you want to do.

iAzire, the deck is not really supposed to be overly powerful, but instead to bring in another level to the gameplay. Queen Marchesa brings the monarch into play and if you are the monarch you get additional card draw. Which is good in any deck. And she fits the flavour so well, I mean come on she has Queen in her name. If you have any suggestions please let me know though.

Dethrone only activates when you attack the player with the most life. To get the most out of your creatures, you'll want to have the least life possible without dying instantly. Some ways of doing this include Phyrexian Unlife, Form of the Dragon, Lich's Tomb and Lich itself. The Platinum artifatties, ie. Platinum Emperion and Platinum Angel may help.

Another tip is that while Queen Marchesa may make you the monarch, so do dozens of other spells (eg. Custodi Lich, Crown-Hunter Hireling and Canal Courier, just to name a few). However, what Marchesa, the Black Rose is a lot better, and it keeps up with your flavour (Yes, I realise that deathtouch is OP in EDH but you'll want to stay the monarch won't you?). It is in slightly different colours however.

Also Scourge of the Throne is OP.

To search up cards that have monarch and dethrone synergy, look at this website:
