Can I just say, I think that the whole thing about SynergyBuild was handled rather poorly. First, Daedalus19876 edited a Deckwatch member’s representative card without the member’s permission.

Second, when asked to change it back in the comments, Daedalus was flippant in their response and refused out of what appears to be pure spite.

I don’t know if those two have a history, but this is nevertheless the same kind of toxic behavior that, on a wider scale, gives every one in the gaming community a bad name.

Chandra585: I didn't remove SynergyBuild because of anything to do with the actual card choice to represent them.

The swap to Nissa was meant to be a playful way to get them still represented as a creature, and I certainly didn't mean to ruffle feathers with that. Apologies if I did, I didn't realize that the card choice here was such a hot-button issue.

(The representative cards have always been all-creatures, and I don't intend to change that now, but that issue is entirely secondary here.)

However, I removed SynergyBuild because of the way they responded after that point:

I have very little patience for this particular kind of passive-aggressive "Do what I say or I'm gonna LEAVE!" ultimatum. SynergyBuild gave me the option between him leaving or me changing it back, and I chose option one.

Other people have put non-creature things in that list before, and when I brought it up to them politely they swapped to a creature.

I have no problem re-adding them (a Broken Bond doesn't have to stay broken forever) but I do have a problem humoring that flavor of "do what I say or I'm quitting!"

...god, we're making mountains out of molehills. It's a small TappedOut chat-group I set up to easily talk with people, where SynergyBuild hasn't been active for months, not some worldwide Magic platform. I don't like drama in this space, and I reacted to an unexpected out-of-the-blue ultimatum accordingly.

While you both make good points, and I do agree that there is blame on both sides, I believe that the original changing of the card was wrong. In a format with roots in originality and personal choice, a card that represents you should be more flexible than just a creature.

Also, after thinking about the issue, I think that SynergyBuild is more to blame than I originally stated. I think that I am usually a more passive-aggressive person myself, so I empathized with them. However, after reading Daedalus19876’s rebuttal of my first comment, I realized that I had been thinking about my reactions and not other people’s. For that, I apologize.

Also, I would like to thank everyone for trying to keep things civil and abstaining from name-calling and the like.

Chandra585: Yeah, agreed. I could have handled that more civilly in retrospect. I brought up the Command Tower issue a few months ago, there was no response, and I removed it. Changing his card to Nissa once he re-added it was supposed to come across as playful, but I can see how it would seem invasive and domineering. I regret any misunderstandings on that front.

I mean, if nothing else this might have been resolved outside of the discussion group. But, in any case, anyone else out there got some build ideas? I never did get a response from my earlier post.

Hey, look, I didn't want any serious drama. Lemme clear this up.

I had never even really had a conversation with Daedalus19876, so no real history between us. When I started, I was told to pick a card. Not a creature. I may have been misunderstanding a post, but that is what I got from it. Because each other user felt closer to a creature, but I, not relating to magic or super-strong entities decided to feel more closely relatable to a land, as I, surprisingly am often 'walked on' IRL. I wanted to show my interest in humor and in the fact I am good in EDH, but not so good at other formats, so I chose the Command Tower to represent myself.

I then wrote a joking land-based profile explanation for myself that got a few lols. Daedalus19876, I didn't see you say I should be a creature, I might have missed it, all I remember at the time was someone saying I brought up the deck's competitiveness 50%.

That was how it started. I come back, and notice there was no land tab with the Command Tower in it. slightly confused, I check to see if my profile was there, it still was. I post the "Why was it removed? I'll re-add myself" comment that started this chain.

Daedalus told me it was supposed to be creatures, I assumed that was a new rule specifically made to stop my one land-joke-thing, and was slightly offended (this may have always been the rule, I didn't know that at the time). If you look back on my comment from: August 18, 2019 9:12 p.m., you'll see this is what I thought.

You'll also see that I wasn't necessarily making an ultimatum on my way or the highway, as I believed the situation was very different. I thought I was being singled out by the creator and was punished for no reason, having rules changed (rather here they were old rules just reenforced, but I didn't know that) against me, and so I was saying if I was being singled out by the owner, I couldn't handle that kind of situation, so would simply leave. Not in spite, but out of not being comfortable.

That was it for the night, next time I log in I see:

Daedalus19876 saying goodbye, confirming my thoughts I was being singled out, KongMing tagging along, making me feel singled out by more than the owner. The stuff with ScionsStillLive was in there, but that wasn't related, and Suns_Champion card reference.I turned off notifications for this page.

Today I see I was mentioned in name by Chandra585 andDaedalus19876, with n0bunga in there was well. While Chandra585 was defending me (thanks, I think you understand how my misunderstanding could have then turned this into what felt to me like bullying), but they took it too far, I wouldn't say some of the things they would, but n0bunga then seemed to take it too far in the other direction. From my perspective until I read some of Daedalus19876's later posts, I never tried to make an ultimatum, I was (thinking I was) being bullied.

Daedalus19876 explained himself after that, and while he again, I believe took it too far, I can now understand him, with more history of the rules in mind. Chandra585 I believe did the same, and feels similar to me now, which even seemed to get across to Daedalus19876.

Point is, my reading of some posts being incorrect in the beginning, my later reading of Daedalus19876's reasoning for removing my own card, then further tagging along by KongMing made me feel very rudely forced out, even if I was technically the person that left. It was a misunderstanding in that regard.

Chandra585 brought up my possible view on it well, and sparked more discussion, healthily with Daedalus19876, and now fixed my misunderstanding.

The only loose ends so far to me were why I was misinformed when I started, why KongMing seems even now to have rudely insulted me, when I look back with a new perspective, and wtf n0bunga was doing. n0bunga, I <3 you man, but saying that I couldn't take the only sensible decision, calling me demanding, immature, and passive-aggressive was really rude. Daedalus19876 may have done some of that, but he came around. That was just hurtful.

@SynergyBuild Will you please stop taking everything so personal and being so sensitive? If you feel brushed off by my comment, it's probably because I'm right and you feel like a dope for taking yourself too seriously on the internet.

All you had to do was take our fearless leader's request in stride, but you decided to make it all about getting your way. Nothing personal, but I'm not a fan of such selfish immaturity in my social groups. I'm glad you left, now stay gone unless you're going to drop it and follow the group guidelines.

This is a lot of drama over a representation card. Anyone mind if the members intro gets updated to say that a creature card is required?
