Deck Overhaul —Feb. 6, 2017

I have trimmed down many of the higher mana. Cost cards in favor of some new cards that help to accelerate this construction and bring the average CMC below 2.

I really didn't want to add that card but after messing around with the lands I made enough space to offer it a 3 space inclusion. I may reduce number pending play test results.

May I ask of the reason that you were purposefully excluding it? Also, if budget permits, I would highly recommend adding about 4 more fetch lands to your mana base. Since you were willing to add blue it will help guarantee your colors. Also don'the forget Paradox Haze stacks. The more copies on the battlefield the more upkeep you get. Another reason I was suggesting it to keep getting as many counters on your things as possible.

I purposefully excluded it due to the price of fetch lands (as I'm sure you can tell I don't use Verdant Catacombs as Windswept Heath is far less expensive. In general I don't like seeing quirky tribal decks over too high of a price as they are not worth building competitively.

@ironcore I appreciate the comment but I do not allow other decks to be posted in the comments section of my brews.

Fair enough. Let me know how you like Paradox Haze.

I recommend Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth as sideboard, since it's mostly a Merfolk counter. Replace it with more Breeding Pools and put it into the sideboard.

Also, Sweet deck you made!

I don't believe that putting lands in a sideboard is an intelligent use of limited space, outside of lands that destroy other lands (and even then their are often better alternatives).

How crucial is doubling season because its kind of expensive for a one of.

perhaps Tukatongue Thallid over Thallid. It just seems a bit faster to make a saproling. Also, love the deck. I built a Thelon EDH a while ago and everyone had a good laugh playing with it.

For budget I recommend Thrummingbird for a proliferate trigger

Soulmenderismylife you are correct that is a better choice given how the deck functions I have made the change

ThEpicMTG, Doubling Season is a bomb in this deck, I would not call it explicitly necessary as you could potentially run a 4th Paradox Haze however replacements would ever offer the sheer impact that you can get from even 1 turn with season out. The short and sweet is that it helps end games.
