1-4 @ AussieMtG Modern Madness #2 —May 28, 2017

Match 1: 1-2 against GR Tron
Each game here was very close, I just didn't have enough hand disruption in the early games. Game 1 I had double flipped Delvers and he was on a clock, he drew a Walking Ballista and cast it for 4. Then he dropped a World Breaker and I lost my red source. In the tie breaker I was chipping him down with a Tasigur and a Creeping Tar Pit, he top decks a Ghost Quarter followed by an Oblivion Stone.
Match 2: 2-1 against UR As Foretold
Match 3: 1-2 against GR Tron
Another close one. Game 1 I had a Gurmag out and he was on a clock, he top decked an Ugin and -7'd him to kill Gurmag. Got double Wurmcoiled in the last game. We ran out of time so I could have drawn the last match with a topdecked KCommand but if we had 2 more minutes I was dead so I threw
Match 4: 0-2 against Eldrazi Tron Aggro
He ended up winning the whole event, I don't know why I was matched against him being 1-2 at the time and he was 3-0. He had a mainboard Ratchet Bomb and 3 Chalice of the Voids so I was completely shut out. Matter Reshaper, Thought Knot Seer, and Reality Smasher are just too strong. Game 2 we were at a bit of a stale mate, he had 3 Ratchet Bombs and 2 Chalices out. I cast spells (that were immediately countered) to delve a Tombstalker. He top decks an All is Dust.
Match 5: 1-2 against Boros Burn
Each game was decided with us both on a 1 turn clock, most fun of the day.
Wasn't expecting to go up against 3 Tron decks which sucked. Overall the weakest and most underwhelming card of the day was surprisingly Lightning Bolt. Moving forward with the following changes before I drop the Delver of Secrets for Street Wraiths.
Main
-1 Mana Leak
-2 Lightning Bolt
+1 Tasigur
+1 KCommand
+1 Thoughtscour
Side
-1 Spell Pierce
-1 Shadow of Doubt
+2 Temur Battle Rage
Now I think I should repurpose my Grixis Delver into something like this! Looks awesome, and probably would be a contender for best deck in my local meta. Still a lot of Infect, which Grixis is usually perfect against, and this looks like it can outpace most strategies. Definitely one to keep a close eye on ;)
Well deserved +1

Nice, haven't been liking my grixis delver deck in the current meta and this would be a good adaptation

Been playing this recently last two weeks at fnm and a couple small 7 round tournaments been having fun winning and playing deaths shadow as 4 more gurmag anglers essentially. Record 12-2 game wise two losses were to the mirror and GW Tron on the play. 7-0 otherwise. Played maybe 20 games record of 15-5 Round wise

That awk moment when you have 4x Flooded Strand over 4x Bloodstained Mire... Why?

Made from pieces I have lying around. The Strands have surprisingly never been a hindrance. Obviously I'd rather 4x Polluted Delta, 3x Bloodstained Mire, and 3x Scalding Tarn. Alas... $$

isnt Darkslick Shores just better than drowned catacomb, because lets be honest if you see more than 4 lands you probably have already lost

Definitely have, and all the other Grixis Shadow builds have evolved and ditched the Delver of Secrets Flip for it, but I like Death's Shadow being an extra threat rather than the core of the deck. Especially with cards like Condemn seeing more play. I'm heading to a Modern tournament in a weeks time and I'll see how it fairs.

Is the sideboard being changed. You got to not be so diverse even if you are a Delver deck
May 17, 2017 6:47 a.m.
The sideboard is evolving, it's really meta dependent. I'm sure it will narrow as time progresses.

For a modern tournament? I certainly hope so...
Bant Eldrazi and Eldrazi Tron are good right now. UW Control as well
