Power Down —June 24, 2017

Since I kept hearing outcries over the 'absurd power level' of this deck, and parts my friend-group recently decided to cut down the power level of their own decks, I've decided to meet them halfway. Furthermore, I want to clear a couple of decks from Proxies, thus the following changes have been made over the last couple of months:

ADDED // REMOVED

  • Norn's Annex // Karn Liberated (as he is mainboarded in eldrazi-love-music-edh which as of today has been successfully reinstated as a Duel Commander. I initially wanted to replace him with a Spine of Ish Sah, but seem to have given it away, so I gave the spot to a recently acquired Norn's Anex instead.)

  • Knight of the White Orchid // Grand Arbiter Augistin IV (The Knight can generate more Mana, whle Augustin will just sit on the field playing bullseye))

  • Dovin Baan and Sphinx's Revelation // Deepglow Skate and The Chain Veil (I am sad about these changes, but these cards have a very bad Hit/Miss ratio I found that more often then not they were dead in my hands when I had no planeswalkers in sight. If they ever happened to hit their mark the entire table would explode into a slew of groans and aggressive plays towards my field, even if the resulting Emblem was comparably harmless to other threads in the game and my entire board was cleansed to a point of disallowing me to rejoin the game.)

  • Act of Authority // Return to Dust (Not exactly a powerdown on this end, but simply a better and more consistent removal)

Furthermore the following cards have been cut for the purpose of adding MORE LAND, because this deck ran on roundabout 34 lands before, and putting too much trust into the Mana Rock Engine. * Duplicant * Prophetic Prism * Mystic Remora * Altar of the Brood * Insidious Will * Ugin, the Spirit Dragon * Haven of the Spirit Dragon

Mystic Remora. They will NEVER pay the 4 to stop it and you can blink it so the cumulative upkeep never gets out of hand. Love the deck btw.

That's an interesting card. I think I even saw it once by skimming through a friend's commons... I'll give it a try if he's willing to trade it, thank you :)

How would a Venser, Shaper Savant fit into here? I am creating a Brago deck rn and I don't a very big budget. Please check out my deck and help me out thanks.

Venser counters a spell only once because after that you can only flicker him after the damage phase - still very useful to return permanents to your hand though. As of now Boardwipes are a big threat to this deck considering Brago is the Main Flicker Option and there aren't really much options to tutor savers like Eerie Interlude (Might consider playing both this and Mystical Tutor again), but for now the best bet against boardwipes is to simply counter them. I'll keep an eye out for Venser at least. Graveyard Retrieval in Azorius is never bad xD
