I am fairly new to magic, and have been trying to put together a mono black control deck which uses certain cards I like. I only play casual, but we play within the modern format. I'm by no means looking for tier 1, or even tournament competitve, but would just like advice or tips on how to improve it, as my card knowledge is fairly limited at this point. All help is very appreciated, so thanks in advance.
The basic idea is to control until playing crypt ghast, then, using the ramp it gives, finishing off the opponent with consume spirit or stronhold overseer. I've found that dash hopes works well, as it either functions as a counter, or chips 5 life off my opponent, which helps with the overall win condition. I have rise of the dark realms in there to, more just for my own enjoyment more than anything else.
I feel it is missing something for the early game, a card I would love to play in it would be Hymn to Tourach, but obviously it isnt modern legal. As I said above, any and all help is very much appreciated.
