Additional Changes for FNM —Aug. 10, 2021
Removed:
- Solemn Simulacrum - I REALLY didn't want to remove Sad Robot, mainly because I had the M21 special full art in foil. But he had to be cut. He just wasn't helping out that much.
- Voltaic Key - Worse than Manifold Key
- Spine of Ish Sah - Very expensive removal. Its GOTTA GO.
- Wastes x2 - No Solemn means no need to fetch basics. These can just go.
- Rishadan Port - This land's ability NEVER came into play, gonna go for something better
- Detection Tower - Very VERY niche. If I really have problems with hexproof in the future, I'll consider adding it back in.
Added:
- Introduction to Annihilation - THIS is why spine was taken out. 5 mana removal, baby.
- Introduction to Prophecy - This is on a trial run for right now. It's a colorless Preordain
- Lux Cannon - Also on a trial run. More reliable removal. With all the untap shenanigans I get into, should be geat.
- Mystic Forge - Also on a trial run. Theoretically can help me solve some card draw problems.
- Manifold Key - Better than Voltaic Key
- Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth - Basically a second Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. Makes my non-mana lands tap for mana.
- Urza's Saga - This card is kinda crazy. It's a land that tutors a sol ring.
Additional Thoughts:
So here I am. A couple years after making the first version of this deck. And I'm cutting lands.
I typically don't like cutting lands, but I feel like this deck could use the cuts. It would always suck casting Kozilek and drawing quite a few lands. Either that or I would find myself wanting to cast Kozilek, but holding off because I'm sitting with 4 lands in hand. And I DONT WANNA draw 3. So I'm gonna try running 2 less lands than before, and add them back in if things don't work out.
