I'm hoping the mana base won't be too merciless to me. I removed a Nomad Outpost in favour of a single Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. Put Magma Jet in again and sided Elspeth. Still working on how to sideboard against mirror match ups. I'm seriously wondering if Mardu Charm has a place within the deck.

My only comment is that it wasn't Genghis Khan but his grandson, Batu Khan(Sorry, history buff here).

@ Flareking99 I'm aware of that. But, everyone knows Genghis, not many know of Batu. Besides, creative liberty and what not. Thank you for that complete lack of input.

If you're going a more token based route, Brimaz, King of Oreskos and maybe even Purphoros, God of the Forge can be good. Also, how has Chained to the Rocks been working with only 6 mountains?

@ LordOfDispair I'm not going the token based route though. Hordeling Outburst is mostly Butcher food. Also, Chained to the Rocks is fine. I have 6 mountains and 4 fetch lands.

What about Hero's Downfall?

If you do end up needing more support for Chained to the Rocks then Evolving Wilds is almost as good as Nomad Outpost for mana fixing and gives you both mountains and delving fuel for Murderous Cut.

@ corythackston the double black mana is ridiculously hard to come by on T3.

@ pglass038 But... I don't. Didn't I make that clear? And evolving wilds is piss poor in this deck. Honestly, I'm not even sold on Murderous Cut mainboard. I might switch it with Utter End. Delve doesn't have to be super relevant, even dropping it down to 3 mana to cast is perfectly reasonable.

Well, you may not always be able to cast it on 3, but that doesn't mean having that at your disposal even later in the game is gonna be bad. That could also mean that you may need to work on your mana base. For instance, an Urborg wouldn't hurt too much, and you have 4 fetches but only one swamp, that means if you draw two fetches you can't physically fetch up double black. Just because it's balanced in the color pie thing doesn't mean you can quit thinking about how to improve your mana base.

@ corythackston Granted. But, I did run Urborg for a time and it was often lack luster. I even ran 2 swamps at one point, again the issue of poor performance. I need the mountains more than I need the swamps because of Chained to the Rocks. Hero's Downfall is in an odd place right now. Yes, it's efficient for what it does, but then you have cards like Murderous Cut and Utter End which can be just as effective. Granted Utter End is more expensive. The one thing I noticed about this deck over a number of games is just how much playing around with the mana base can make or break it. It's weird and I've struck that fine balance right now. I might throw in Hero's Downfall for the purposes of testing, but like I said, it's in a strange place when considering the meta.
