Minor Updates + Aesthetics —March 23, 2015

Regarding updates to the deck, I swapped out the 2x Slaughter Pact for 2x grisly salvage 000 because the salvage is incredible card advantage for this deck. The removal can be sided in if it is needed.

Speaking of sideboards, what do you think about my current one? Let me know you thoughts about it and anything else I have in the "please give me feedback about these things" section of the description. Thanks!

I would not make either of the edits you are looking for in your description. Damnation would kill your Ooze and Cavern of Souls isn't quite versatile enough for this deck. I would, however, definitely add Reaper of the Wilds. Its abilities would be just nuts on your Ooze and when all else fails, it's a good card on its own.

misterbiscuitbarrel: If Damnation were added, it would be used to help me stay alive long enough to get the appropriate creatures in the grave (which it could help do) before casting Necrotic Ooze to combo off. As things stand, I have a lot of targeted removal, but nothing to combat my opponent having multiple creatures or creatures with hexproof (thrun, giest, etc.) Also, if Thornling were in the graveyard, Necrotic Ooze could become indestructible and survive the boardwipe. In light of those arguments, would you still say Damnation is a no-go?

Thanks for the input on Reaper of the Wilds, I think I'll begin testing it out.

You do raise a good point. I would add it and playtest it a few times to see how it works out. I would also try to get your hands on another two Lotleth Trolls. A discard outlet with no mana cost is truly invaluable in a deck like this.

Can you explain the vraska sideboard?

klone13 It is a removal spell that can target any nonland permanent (thus letting it potentially take care of annoying creatures or graveyard hate cards), has potential to be used multiple times, and can potentially be a win con all in itself.

Hey man! Great deck and some combos I didn't even think of myself! I particularly like the Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord idea! And I<ll more than likely find a hole for Reaper of the Wilds in my deck! That thing is just...too strong to pass up!

I don't wanna be THAT GUY but check mine out and tell me what you think!

Ooze your daddy now!

Thanks

Really good deck +1. My friend actually plays a deck almost identical to this. I personally believe that Golgari Grave-Troll does deserve a spot in the deck only because, as you said, sometimes you want to go aggro in your deck, and that is the card to do it. It offers insane value for a five drop and works especially well in a graveyard-based deck like yours. Also, if for some reason your combo pieces dont get found, Necrotic Ooze can use its ability while its in the graveyard. Just a thought however, you are the one who plays the deck.

GlitterFang Thanks for the feedback! I'm still on the fence with the troll. I played Stinkweed Imp for a while and ended up cutting it. If I did want to play with a dredge creature, I don't know if one extra dedged card and the possibly higher power are worth the two extra mana and absence of deathtouch. Also, the only time Necrotic Ooze has a +1/+1 counter to spend on GGT's regeneration ability is if it has been cast using Savage Summoning in a post-sideboard game, but I suppose the possibility is there.

Fair enough. Another question; do you think Darkblast is good enough to mainboard right now? Modern is currently ruled by creatures with 4 and 5 toughness. Don't you think Damnation might be a better option?
