Interesting little deck put together under a BDSM theme but still manages to be rather effective. This started forming in my head with cards like Duress (so many poor tortured elf girls in M13!) and
Servant of Nefarox
, and was finally realized with DGM's Master of Cruelties. Because hey, every good servant needs a master. ;)
Thus far I've done a minimal amount of play testing, with varied results. First two games were 3-person; in the first round I got neutered by a player just before they were killed off, and in the second the other opponent was mana pinched and I made a stupid mistake not killing off the stronger opponent when I had the opportunity. Didn't quite have a feel for the deck yet, and hadn't actually played in six months (i.e. rookie mistakes). Still, two solid defeats.
Then I played a 2-person game against (ha!) an artifact deck. The intimidate element proved rather useless, and I floundered through the first round, ending in a loss. Second round I felt I was finally getting the gist of things, and wised up to using the
Razortip Whip
and
Hired Torturer
to deal direct damage to the player while keeping his creatures at bay until I drew Master of Cruelties. More instances of Rogue's Passage would have been quite effective here, helping to compensate for the loss of intimidate.
Thus far I'm looking for possible ways to add haste to creatures entering the battlefield, possibly through a card like Anger, Fervor, or
Mass Hysteria
. I definitely want one or two Rogues Passages, as its activated ability is pretty great when intimidate fails. And yes, I've considered a lot of Rakdos cards for this deck, but for the most part they feel rather, well, madcap, and I'd prefer to keep this deck a bit more... controlled in its approach. Someone also suggested
Bullwhip
, which is not a bad idea.
