Court of Vantress

Enchantment

When Court of Vantress enters the battlefield, you become the monarch.

At the beginning of your upkeep, choose up to one other target enchantment or artifact. If you're the monarch, you may create a token that's a copy of it. If you're not the monarch, you may have Court of Vantress become a copy of it, except it has this ability.

Thanks for the recommendations Last_Laugh! I’ll definitely need to add Court of Vantress and Vault of the Archangel.

I honestly thought Vault of the Archangel was already in this deck. I completely forgot Zur the Enchanter had flying.

Court of Vantress deserves a spot. Copying something like Cathar's Crusade gets nuts and the monarchy is pretty easy to hold here so they're usually permanent token copies.

Zur the Enchanter has a massive toolbox of cards to look up here.

Fanatical Devotion let's you sac tokens to save actual creatures.

Vault of the Archangel is expensive to activate but you don't always need to. Just the unspoken threat of a potential activation effects combat in your favor and when you do activate it, it gains massive amounts of life. Hold up the mana into combat, be prepared to use it if needed, and if not play stuff on your post combat main phase.

Last, but definitely not least is Nykthos Paragon. It's an enchantment so it triggers Alela and Alela conveniently has lifelink built in. The low bar here is Alela at only 2 power puts 2x +1+1 counters on everyone, then 4 the next turn, then 8. It snowballs fast and turns even your 1/1's into game ending threats in no time.

UltimateRoxas40 Hey, thanks for taking the time to reply. Those are some solid creatures.

As far as the deck goes it's a lot of fun to pilot and can have some pretty explosive turns. Last Saturday I got in a game where I started the turn with only Court of Vantress and Eowyn out and managed to kill all 3 opponents with 2x 25/25 and 2x 23/23 hastey trampling tokens. Vantress copied an opponent's Roaming Throne at upkeep. I then played Cathars' Crusade followed by Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon and everyone gets a counter. I enter combat and make 2x tokens for 2 more counters, Eowyn triggers again for 2 more tokens and counters thanks to Roaming Throne. I swing with the 4x tokens which triggers Anim for her 6th counter, 6 tokens, and 6 counters from Cathar's. Anim triggers again for her 13th counter, 13 tokens, and 13 more counters.

Last_Laugh you make a good point. I want to add one more draw spell but I don't want to remove more creatures for it. I was thinking of benching Knights' Charge for Court of Vantress or Plumb the Forbidden. As you said, Court has good targets to copy on my side, and will usually also have something juicy to copy on the opposing sides, and Plumb the Forbidden is a good card to use in response to a board wipe. Knights' Charge adds a small life-draining effect and has the potential to reanimate a lot of knights in a late game scenario, but it can perhaps be replaced for even more draw and better utility. Do you think it would be a good switch? I am leaning more towards Court

Last_Laugh I get that more draw is always something everyone wants, and I wouldnt mind adding a couple more spells, but I'm having a hard time switching out stuff for them. What would you swap for Bident of Thassa and Tocasia's Welcome, perhaps Court of Vantress as well? I was thinking that the two 5 CMC Knights, Cavalier of Dawn and Cavalier of Night could be good potential swaps, even though they're well worth the 5 mana cost. Gonna need some help on this

Court of Vantress will net you some draw while allowing you to copy some spicy targets like Roaming Throne on your own board and any Rhystic Studies, Sylvan Libraries, or other goodies of your opponents. Hopefully permanent copies but you may be susceptible to flyers taking the monarch.

On that note, Luminous Broodmoth would help with the flyers problem while making your board more resilient. It's not a knight but might be worth a try still.

Elenda and Azor is a knight with a nice mana sink for some card draw and knight token production.

I have to agree with Crow_Umbra that the deck feels very light on draw power.

Bident of Thassa can draw a lot of cards. Consider Court of Vantress here too. Tocasia's Welcome is only once per turn but it's well worth a slot. Tenuous Truce is political but you can almost always find someone to draw with... for awhile at least.
