what triggers door of destinies?

So as Door of Destinies states: 'whenever you cast a spell of the chosen type'. But are there ways around this?

I have a zombie deck and a rat deck implementing this card.

rats:Does Pack Rat 's ability counts as playing a spell of the chosen type?Same question for Ogre Slumlord when a rat dies.

zombies:can I get a token on the door when...casting Gravecrawler from the graveyard?Butcher Ghoul or Geralf's Messenger undying ability goes off?Undying Evil is played on any card of the chosen type?Liliana's Reaver , Grave Titan or Vile Rebirth ability to put a zombie token on the field?Rise from the Grave is played?

Gravecrawler -Yes
All others- no

Gravecrawler you are using an ability that allows you to cast it so you are casting a spell of the chosen type. Rise from the Grave a sorcery spell with no creature types is putting the creature into play. Same goes for Vile Rebirth except that its an instant with no creature types. All the other things are abilities putting a creature of that type in so its not you casting it.

Interestingly tribal spells do count as "spells of the chosen type" so Aquitect's Will would put a counter on if the type were Merfolk.

No.Triggered abilities trigger when their conditions are met. Conditions that may seem similar do not count.

Door of Destinies triggers when you cast a spell of the chosen creature type. Activating or triggering abilities that create tokens of the same type is not the same thing at all.

This is the game's technical definition of "casting a spell":

  • To take a spell from where it is (usually the hand), put it on the stack, and pay its costs, so that it will eventually resolve and have its effect.
