Unmake vs. Indestructibility, Does it work?
Asked by Poopernoodles 11 years ago
so Indestructibility grants indestructible, and i believe that makes it so the enchanted creature can't be "Destroyed". however, Unmake "removes from game". soooo does that work on a creature enchanted with Indestructibility since its not being "destroyed" its being "removed from the game"

702.12. Indestructible702.12a Indestructible is a static ability.702.12b A permanent with indestructible cant be destroyed. Such permanents arent destroyed by lethal damage, and they ignore the state-based action that checks for lethal damage (see rule 704.5g).702.12c Multiple instances of indestructible on the same permanent are redundant.
Indestructible deals with "destroy" and damage dealt.

Bingo! Remove from the game, -1/-1 effects and returning to hand or deck are the only ways to deal with Indestructibility or Avacyn, Angel of Hope for example. Try Swords to Plowshares or Duplicant for the removal. Or something like Oblation or Condemn to get those pesky things back into peoples library. Lastly something to think of is you can always return those indestructibles to hand with something like Boomerang and then the good old Counterspell get's 'em every time!

To use my favorite color: Cruel Edict and Chainer's Edict and Devour Flesh and Innocent Blood will all get the job done too. I made myself sad now knowing that Innocent Blood will probably never get reprinted. So. Fun.

Unmake exiles, not destroys. So the indestructible thing leaves the game.
