Blue ramp

I have been thinking about making a blue green ramp deck, and I was wondering about the blue ramp/ land grab cards. I know about High Tide and that's pretty much it. So, can anybody give me any good suggestions?

For what format? Blue can always run mana-rocks, combo to get infinite mana, or run very specific stuff like Dreamscape Artist .

If you want to be amazing, run Apprentice Wizard .

I don't really play any format, just casual. But if I were to label my play group I would say modern, with no ban list. That's for the suggestions! Any more ideas?

If you run Mana Crypt , Tolaria West is good. The mana rocks are a must. Tezzeret the Seeker and Trinket Mage are good

Yes, truble, a user that labels his playergroup as casual totally runs Mana Crypt .

Anyways, what I'm really curious is why you want blue ramp if you want to make a green/blue deck. Blue is terrible at ramp while green excels at it. You could easily invest in some Rampant Growth s or Cultivate s. These cards cost nothing at all and can be found everywhere. They ramp and fix your mana base. Overall, your best bet is to use the mana ramping from green to support whatever you're trying to build.

It is true I won't run Mana Crypt ($$$). I realize that I can support it with the green ramp cards but I wanted to look into the blue side of ramp. i already have Rampant Growth and Cultivate / Kodama's Reach in my deck list, so I was looking for other (blue) ramp cards, because I enjoy the idea of blue ramp (as bad as it is).

Casual describes a player's attitude towards the game. Not his budget. A lot of casual players have very large expensive collections. EDH is "casual" and many decks are multiple-thousands of dollars.

How about Urban Evolution ?

That's definitely true. There is a guy I play with every week that is pretty much just a casual player but just dropped a lot of money on Conspiracy for a new cube. And a good friend of mine just plays casual and has decks that he has spent several hundred dollars on. I should have specified that while I will spend money for individual cards, I won't spend large sums of money like $200 for Mana Crypt .

I think on this site, you are safe to assume that "casual" means "on budget." Users will typically label a non casual deck under some format, or competitive.

And EDH isn't just a casual format. Yes, it was created as a format for casual play, it has become just as cutthroat as competitive legacy/vintage/modern/standard. If anything, EDH exists in a state where it is both casual, and noncasual. Just because the format is generally casual, does not mean the players are.

I am going to be nit-picky because this is a pet peeve of mine. You say that casual = budget, but then all your arguments are proving that casual = not-competative, which I agree with.

@truble, while in actuality Casual = Non-competitive, enough people believe that Casual = Non-Competitive + Budget that that definition has taken a reality of its own. In some ways, both are true.

If two possibilities exist, the logical thing would be to figure out which seems more likely.
