A Few Things...and a Special Surprise! —Oct. 29, 2015

So, after taking a break from Kalemne, I decided to reset the maybeboard.

Burnished Hart: I think I got enough ramp as it is. At least for now.

Baneslayer Angel: This would be the biggest blow, but I won't mourn for its loss.

Markov Warlord: CMC 6 isn't the problem right now. I need 4 drops more.

The surprise? I did not catch this until lterally just now, but my deck was featured by Jason Alt from Gatheringmagic.com. Feel free to check it out (I'll post the link at the end of the update for all to see)!

That said, that does not mean I gained a new direction with the deck. To sum up Jason's thoughts, he was unsure about Stoneforge Mystic and Stonehewer Giant and...well, basically, all the tutors. The tutors served to find Sunforger, which is correct. I would not have built the deck and focused on it if it weren't for the card.

So, as it is right now, I will probably consider removing Stoneforge and Enlightened. I cannot bring myself to remove Stonehewer because it gets me an experience counter.

The Article

EDIT: Ok, so I took on Jason's suggestions, and this is what I came up with:

-Stoneforge Mystic, Enlightened Tutor, and Stonehewer Giant: After reading Jason's thoughts and looking at the deck, he was sort of right in that I did not have that many good targets. So, I removed these. My main concern now is finding a way to nearly consistently have Sunforger. I'll test to see if I want to be dependent on it or not.

+Baneslayer Angel: So, she finally returns.

+Balefire Dragon: I could use another boardwipe.

+Order / Chaos: Our latest addition to the Sunforger Package. This either allows you to do some serious damage or KO an opponent (Chaos) or stop an opponent's biggest threat (Order).

What I particularly like about this new experience counter mechanic is that the counters are placed on you, not Kalemne. So if Kalemne dies a horrible, flaming death and goes back to your command zone, the next time you cast her, she'll still have the buff because the counters won't go away.

This also means that Proliferate effects would work rather well here. Contagion Engine, Contagion Clasp, etc.

canterlotguardian: Indeed, which is why Volt Charge, Contagion Clasp, and Contagion Engine are in the deck.

What about Markov Warlord as a second Glarewielder. It's ended a lot of games for me in my Ruhan of the Fomori deck.
