I would recommend something like -

4x Judge's Familiar

3x Essence Scatter

3x Syncopate

4x Dissolve

2-3x Cyclonic Rift

3x AEtherling

3-4x Divination

25-26x Island

Sideboard - 2-3x Negate

The rest is up to you to decide and tweak and see what you like.

ok but just to get an idea what is the average converted mana cost per creature should i have

Average creature cost can be around 3 or 4 in a deck like this. There isn't much else worth playing when all your low slots are taken by counterspells anyway.

4 cmcs are fine. Some 5 cmcs but not many. Very few 6 cmcs. Wouldn't go above 6.

You definitely need help against aggro. The deck i'm running would completely wreck this, simply because this deck wouldnt be able to keep up. I'd definitely try to run Cyclonic Rift if it's within your budget. Also, Judge's Familiar would work. Mainly you need a way to hold off threats early and a reliable win con late game like AEtherling It looks like a fun casual deck, but i don't see this being very viable at FNM.

oh ok well i will continue this tomorrow. before FNM. THANKS for all the advise.

oh before i go how much mana do i need in a deck like this?

November 21, 2013 9:23 p.m.

HarbingerJK says... #16

you're probably good at 24, but you could probably stand to drop it down to 22 since it's mono blue

November 21, 2013 9:27 p.m.

patrickloyd says... #17

OK i will do that thanks

You just want to be playing a land every turn. For this reason some control decks go up to 25 - but these are mainly multi-coloured decks. 24 is fine here.

So your plan is to counter them to death? You can't win without creatures.

November 22, 2013 4:42 p.m.

jonhydude says... #23

I think you accidentally put your creature cards in your maybeboard, so fix that up.

Alos, take out 1 Cancel and add 1 Dissolve .

patrickloyd says... #24

LOL i know that is why i have the creatures in my maybe board. i need to know which creatures compliment this deck

November 22, 2013 4:46 p.m.

jonhydude says... #25

I'd say 4xPhantom Warrior , 3xOmenspeaker and 4xWall of Frost .

Alos, Judge's Familiar is a great card for this deck.
