Preparing for WAR —April 10, 2019

Looking at cards that have been spoiled (up to 10 April) from the upcoming WAR series, there is only 1 card that stands out and demands inclusion in this deck. That is Evolution Sage, which replaces Elvish Clancaller. Yes, it is risky without a wider range of cards that give +1/+1 counters early in the game, you could end up proliferating for no gain.Elvish Clancaller on the other hand is a sure +1/+1 to each elf. Once you get going however, proliferating with each land-fall and accumulating counters on Simic Ascendancy could really speed things up.

Other cards that I considered, but just can't find space for include Pollenbright Druid, Stealth Mission, Teferi's Time Twist, Steady Aim and Band Together

Disdainful Stroke is a great sideboard card. I would recommend it over Negate , or at least a 2/1 split. The only spell that I even care about that Negate can hit that Stroke can't is Deafening Clarion . Otherwise, Stroke answers every sweeper and planeswalker that must be answered. Goblin Chainwhirler and Thief of Sanity are problematic creatures, but that's why you have the Incubation / Incongruity in the 75. As a benefit of running the adapt package, when you leave mana up for an end of turn adapt, it gives you the counter-magic option.

Thanks djnewellmit,

Agreed Disdainful Stroke is more versatile than Negate . I must admit that I overlooked it and have been using Quench as my fall-back. I will certainly sleeve up this deck and try it out at an FNM.
