Excellent! Very useful resource.

I think you should mention Smokestack under the Stax heading.

Under suicide black, I would note that the use of any widely considered powerful resources as a sacrifice, whether life totals, lands, or creatures, cards in hand, etc. would also be suicide black. Rain of Filth for example, is a suicidal card that can be very powerful in some Ad Nauseam lists, which while losing life in that scenario, can also win without the Ad Nauseam in such a manner.

TL;DR: Life loss isn't the only suicide black resource that is sacrificed for power!

You should definitely use the accordion feature for this. It would clean it up quite a bit.

Your definition for Spellslinger misses the mark:

"a strategy usually seen in EDH/Commander that focuses on and rewards casting instants and sorceries, sometimes almost or entirely creatureless."

Izzet Phoenix in Modern, U/R Prowess in Legacy, Izzet Blitz in Pauper, and Inside Out Combo in Pauper are all spellslinger decks. It is a common archetype in all formats and is usually accompanied by creatures.

My take:

Based around instants and sorceries, a spellslinger deck uses effects that trigger on spellcasts to pull ahead. This can play aggressively with cards like Nivix Cyclops or use cards like Niv-Mizzet, Parun to garner card advantage.

DarkStarStorm How about the following wording, just to keep it consistent with the other entries:

"a deck that gains advantages through casting instants and sorceries to support aggressive creatures like Nivix Cyclops or card advantage sources like Niv-Mizzet, Parun ."

Thanks for helping me out with this one, I was a little soft on it.

For the accordion, I'll start working on that tomorrow.

Perfect! I like it. Open-ended for newer players, but concise in its definition.

Amulet Bloom should be updated, since the deck was banned from Modern years ago.

Amulet Titan: A combo deck that utilizes Amulet of Vigor and bounce lands like Simic Growth Chamber to cast Primeval Titan and attack for lethal as early as turn two.

Open-ended and concise is exactly what I'm aiming for. I want to check with yeaGO if I'm allowed to rename them as well. If I am, I'll hit Amulet Titan.

I just ran a hub search for Amulet Bloom. Ten of the decks in the first block were named Amulet Titan, so clearly it's an accepted name. The main difference is which card is dumping out lands. My thought is to keep the Amulet Bloom hub name, change the description to use Primeval Titan , and maybe reference Summer Bloom as the name source. The two are close enough that I don't think they need separate entries.

I can agree with keeping the name but changing the description. Thank you for changing the format to an accordion block. I know how much time that would have taken and the effort was not lost on me.

TypicalTimmy I've been debating that. Right now, I'm leaning toward dropping it.

Should "Blink" be a hub or does Value Engine cover it?

August 12, 2019 7:40 p.m.

legendofa says... #17

DarkStarStorm Apologies for the late response; my work schedule has been hot recently. I think blink effects would fall under Value Engine. They are a distinct subgroup, though.

Everyone: I've made a promise to clean this list up, and it's going to get cleaned up. It's my highest priority once my schedule slows down.

Okay, I've been away from the game for a year (and what a year it was--how many cards got banned?), and I want to make sure this thing stays up to date. My quick and shallow deck-skimming has come up with Adventures and Uro as candidates for new hubs. Are these broad enough to include? Did I miss anything else exciting that can be added?

Great work. Thumbs up from me. Since the HUBS have been reworked you could split the list in actual and discarded hubs.

xram666 Heh, yeah, I've been procrastinating on this. Making a "retired" hubs list is a good idea.

This is a very interesting list, and I surely learned a thing or two! Thank you for posting!

In "Thoughness matters" you spelled Phenax's name wrong! Might correct that
