carpecanum Neither Shade's Form nor Darksteel Plate would work. Both have to establish a target while they're on the stack, triggering Horobi, who kills the target before the original spell/ability resolves, countering it.

Hey Vortexflame. It's a cool idea, but probably a bit situational (it's unlikely to stick in play and I don't run that many creatures.

Mogis's Marauder? It's a 3-mana creature that can act as a mass murder weapon with Horobi on the field.

Read the Bones, if you was looking for a good draw spell. It doesnt draw you as many cards sure but its quality is abit better.

Have you considered Squee's Toy? I've seen this card in a Horobi deck before and it looked quite good, but it's obviously very reliant on having Horobi.

Shade's Form is an instant steal-a-creature with Horobi.
Baton of Morale is a cheap killing machine. So is Desert.
Does Darksteel Plate stop Horobi from being killed by his own ability? Seems like it would.
