Dragons -- they're very cool and very powerful, but they're generally not all that relevant in the Pauper format. For one, they're often high-mana cost creatures, making them viable only in the late game, but most of the good ones are at higher rarities (before Tarkir Dragonstorm, there were only 30 dragons at common.)
But with Dragonstorm, we got six new common dragons, five of which came with the set's cool new Omen mechanic. And I think some of these new dragons create an opportunity for this tribe to finally be up to the Pauper task.
Sagu Wildling leads the charge here, bolting land fixing and consistency onto solid later-game flying bodies. It pairs well with previous Adventure dragons like Fang Dragon and Sword Coast Serpent to grant us a lot of flexibility with our cards.
While there may not be a lot of dragons at common, there is a decent amount of dragon support cards at the lowest rarity. Breath Weapon was already a Pauper all-star, but it does even more work here since it often acts as a one-sided wipe. Dragonlord's Servant, Reckless Barbarian and Patron of the Arts all ramp us while staying in the dragon theme. And Dispelling Exhale is a fantastic counter option when you can pretty much guarantee to be able to behold a dragon.
We start in Gruul colors to be aggressive, but because of all the great fixing with the treasures from Patron, the fetching ability of Bountiful Landscape and Sagu's Omen ability, we have the flexibility to use a transformative sideboard to sneak in some blue cards.
We're probably not cracking into the Pauper metagame, but it competes surprisingly well. Plus, you get to play dragons, so you're definitely having more fun.
