Lost in the Cruel Reins of Mist —March 27, 2024
Traded out Downpour for Lost in the Maze - has the potential to be used as a better version of Downpour AND can be used for instant protection after an attack. Also took out 3 Swamps in favor of adding Sunken Ruins, Sunken Hollow, and Underground River. Also finally added Reins of Power - this card is ridiculous and has already helped me win a game when I was on the losing end. Such a crazy card.
Also added in March of Swirling Mist - Combos incredibly well with a bunch of different setups due to it's ability to target creatures. With Willbreaker I can make my opponent's creatures vanish and then appear under my own control. Dismiss into Dream vanquishes them. It can act as a form of protection for my own creatures at instant speed. Best of all, with cards like Reins of Power, I can simply make my creatures disappear, take control of my opponent's creatures and swing out, and essentially still keep my creatures untouched after.
A common complaint I have of this deck is that it doesn't really do much damage even when I swing out with multiple creatures. So. I also added Cruel Somnophage - at first look, there's nothing really apparent about how it fits into the deck outside of its thematic aspects towards Sleep (though it does look like a nightmare version of Somnophore which I love, they even have similar poses!). However, it's Adventure aspect helps combo with itself, Dauthi Voidwalker, Lazav, the Multifarious, and Thief of Sanity. But not only that, if this deck plays right and I've tapped my opponent's creatures mid-to-late game, all it takes is for me to bring this guy out and suddenly I can do a ridiculous amount of damage since many creatures have usually died at this point - especially mine. Add in a simple Ghostly Touch or Sleeper's Robe and I don't have to worry about any remaining blockers. Every deck should have at least one big meat stick - and this is it!
