Sideboard Tinkering —June 1, 2016
Seeing the success of this deck lately, I think the main deck is pretty much where it needs to be. The only thing I have been considering changing is adding an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth just to make the mana a tiny bit easier. Especially for casting a Grave Pact, Liliana, Heretical Healer Flip, or Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet. I don't know what land could be cut though. My first thoughts would be Mountain or Ghost Quarter but I dont thik it would be worth losing either.
I have been mostly thinking about the sideboard at this point. Right now I feel like I could focus it more on my worse match-ups. I haven't had enough testing to see the really bad match-ups yet, but at this point I feel like my worst match-ups are against Merfolk and combo decks such as Valakut or Ad Nauseum.
I don't really know what to change to deal with Fish. I already have a plethora of removal to bring in.
Against Valakut, I am considering bringing in a Crumble to Dust. This would also be very good against Tron.
I can bring in Slaughter Games to turn off basically any combo deck including Scapeshift and Ad Nauseum.
Wear / Tear has seemed good so far as well so its always worth considering adding another to the board as well.
I am considering dropping the Sideboard Liliana, Heretical Healer Flip, and/or Duress for one of these.
I sort of want more testing before making the jump though.
I am also dropping the Damnation for another Grave Pact. Grave Pact just seems so impactful in basically all the match-ups I want to bring it in for. It can shut off creature decks completely, including infect, affinity, Bogles, CoCo, and even things like GR Valakut, Gifts Ungiven, and Nahiri.
EDIT: I think I am replacing both the SB Duress and Liliana, Heretical Healer Flip for two Tidehollow Scullers. It seems so good against combo and control. Gives a body and takes the card I want.
