Ha, happens to everyone from time to time, I'm sure : ) A while back I had started making a deck with the original Kami samurais and infinite block cards like Blaze of Glory and Valor Made Real because I thought that bushido gave your creature a bonus for each creature it blocked. The idea was that Sensei Golden-Tail or Araba Mothrider would get +1 for each block and could wall decks going wide. Heh, I play against decks going wide a lot : ) But, sadly, it doesn't work that way, and my dream of actually using bushido effectively was squashed, wholly : )

Araba Mothrider was originally boarded against fliers (they were heavy in my meta for a while) as a buffer.

Eight-and-a-Half-Tails is much slower than the Castle, I run the one initially more as playtesting honestly. I have considered decking it out with either a 4th Kitsune Blademaster or the additional land.

Thanks guys for the input! This deck is way more popular than anything else I've posted haha. Samurai FTW!

I love this deck, its the sort of stupid flavor i would try and cram into 60 cards, although I wouldnt be brave enough to run it for Modern FNM.

I just wonder why is Araba Mothrider in the board? What does it come in against?

As far as improvement direction goes, the best way this deck stays competitive in a match is to make each of its creature's threatening. That's why I have many cards to pump up the p/t. To further that end, the best way to go forward is either more equipment, especially since I run Godo. Or better on-theme cards than what I have - Araba Mothrider isn't impressing anyone.

As far as how much I use Zurgo - He comes out every game and always applies pressure to my opponents. If I have the board state to keep him shrouded and buffed up, he can carry games by himself. While I don't want to turn it into a Zurgo-Tron deck, sometimes he's my only means of closing out a match. I will abstain from Worldslayer because it is unfun for my opponents, but maybe I'll add in Terra Eternal too and rain havoc. That might be fun :)

Can't believe I've never come across this one! I know I'm about 3 years late to the party, but; How did it end up working out? And if I may; I have discovered through my own testing, that while I love Kenzo the Hardhearted, the tiny Bushi is hard enough to transform. And the Battle-Mad Ronin is a 1/1 that attacks every turn, keeping your opponent on a 20-turn clock. And most of the time, they can defend against it by turn 3. My recommendations would be cutting those out and instead, putting in Samurai of the Pale Curtain in place of the Ronin, even though it's a Kitsune, therefore doesn't play well with the Innistrad equipment, and perhaps instead of the Bushi, Araba Mothrider-it would slow you down a little, but give you some much-needed defense against fliers.

So I was really interested by your article (though my friends thought it was stupid), coming up with a math equation to determine whether a card is good or not. I decided to find some cards with abilities you have not yet covered, and rate them.

Abattoir Ghoul: 0.875 (I decided his "whenever he kills a creature" ability to be worth half lifelink, so 1)

Accursed Spirit: 0.875 (I decided Intimidate was worth 2)

Araba Mothrider: 1.375 (I decided Bushido is worth it's value times two minus 0.5 [2V-0.5 if you want to get compacted])

Arashin Foremost 1.25 (I decided that the last ability is worth 1.5.)

Here are some downsides that I rated (the score is how much you subtract, not add).

At the beginning of the end step, sacrifice (Ball Lightning) = 3

Vanishing X (Aven Riftwatcher) = 5 - X

When ETB/As an additional cost, sac X creatures (Accursed Centaur) = 2X

Whenever it becomes the target of spell or ability, sacrifice it (Crystalline Nautilus) = 1.5

Echo (Goblin War Buggy) = 2

Legendary (Nicol Bolas) = 1.5

Attacks each turn if able (Riot Piker) = 1

Hope this helped!
