Katilda, Dawnhart Martyr

Legendary Creature — Spirit Warlock

Flying, lifelink, protection from Vampires ((Remember the acronym debt.) This can't be damaged, enchanted, equipped, blocked or targeted by Vampires.)

This creature’s power and toughness are each equal to the number of permanents you control that are either Spirits and/or enchantments.

Disturb (You may cast this from your graveyard transformed for this card's disturb cost.)

Hello! I went through your list looking for spots to upgrade, but I found almost none: congratulations, it is really optimized!

Still, I believe you might want to consider some of these cards to increase your engine:

Ramp: Cultivate and Llanowar Elves could be Starfield Mystic, Bear Umbra, Burgeoning or Exploration instead, to stick with the Enchantments theme.

Draw: Don't forget the other enchantresses (Satyr Enchanter, Verduran Enchantress). I would take out Hyena Umbra and Cartouche of Solidarity for them.

Tutors: Heliod's Pilgrim might be better than Moon-Blessed Cleric, since it puts the card in your hand.

Pillowfort: Raking Canopy is probably more effective to deflect fliers than Spider Umbra. Elephant Grass could take White Sun's Twilight's place, since the former does not blow your own field.

Evasion: You might want Unquestioned Authority for extra evasion. It might replace Aegis of the Gods. (In my experience, players' spells do not usually target other players.)

Hate pieces: Rest in Peace, Ground Seal, Solemnity, Authority of the Consuls, Blind Obedience are some cards you might want to include.

Good deck so far!

I think if you decide to splash a color, I would go with blue. Having Cartouche of Knowledge, Staggering Insight, Combat Research and counterspells seems quite useful to me. It would help you replace a lot of the less-powerful cards you're running (like Angelic Gift) while staying true to the theme of the original deck. If you'd rather keep the deck Selesnya then 100% do that, but I think in this case Bant would be more powerful than Abzan.

If you're staying Selesnya, I would recommend you look into Katilda, Dawnhart Martyr  Flip and Sky-Blessed Samurai, I have had a lot of success with those two cards.

This is a good outline so far either way. Nice job!

Gidgetimer on How does counting the power …

Katilda, Dawnhart Martyr  Flip is counting permanents, each permanent can be counted once. The "and/or" is so that it includes a permanent that is both, since there is an interpretation of "or" that is exclusive. By herself Katilda is a 1/1. Eidolon of Countless Battles is only one permanent despite being both of the types that are being looked for.

For Katilda to count a permanent twice it would have to say "Katilda, Dawnhart Martyr's power and toughness are each equal to the number of Spirits you control plus the number of enchantments you control."

I've been wanting to build a deck that incorporates Katilda, Dawnhart Martyr  Flip, and from reading her ability, I thought that her power and toughness would be equal to the number of permanents I control that are Spirits and/or enchantments, as in if I Katilda out, and I have a spirit enchantment creature token out, that her power and toughness would be 2/2 not 1/1, but when I showed the card to a friend of mine, he interpreted it as the number of permanents that are either spirits and or enchantments. Can she count a permanent more than once if it's both a spirit and an enchantment?

Coward_Token I'll paste the relevant part from the Crimson Vow release notes here:

"Disturb [cost]" means "You may cast this card transformed from your graveyard by paying [cost] rather than its mana cost."

When you cast a spell using a card's disturb ability, the card is put onto the stack with its back face up. The resulting spell has all the characteristics of that face.

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost (such as a disturb cost) you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The mana value of a spell cast using disturb is determined by the mana cost on the front face of the card, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was. (This is a special rule that applies only to transforming double-faced cards, including ones with disturb.)

In this situation, you're correct. In using the disturb ability of Katilda, Dawnhart Martyr  Flip, you're casting a Legendary Enchantment - Aura spell with a mana value of 3. That hypothetical version of Light-Paws would be able to search for an Aura card in your library with a mana value of 3 or less.

Note that while the spell has a mana value of 3 due to this special rule, the permanent still has a mana value of 0 when it is on the battlefield.

Polaris: Thanks for the confirmation.

Bonus question: Hypothetically, if Light-Paws instead said "Whenever you cast an Aura spell...", Katilda's Rising Dawn would still only let you fetch a (non-Disturb) Aura with a mana value of <= 3, because it'd use the MV of Katilda, Dawnhart Martyr  Flip?

Really cool deck idea! There are a few cards you might want to think about, namely Katilda, Dawnhart Martyr  Flip, Mausoleum Wanderer, and Rattlechains. Crypt Ghast is amazing, but only if you add in Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.
