Chandra, Pyromaster in RDW?

I feel like I already know the answer, but how would she fare as STRICTLY a 1-of in an RDW? I just found her in my collection, and got to thinking. Every single one of her abilities would be fantastic in an RDW, but, you know, 4 mana and everything.

Thoughts?

Outclassed by Outpost Siege. Largely irrelevant.

With Dromoka's Command I see Chandra, Pyromaster having a resurgence. Even Frank Karsten played her in his RDW deck's Sideboard at the PT.

I think your budget definitely plays a role here

If you got cash then go for something like Phyrexian Obliterator

Fuck. Sorry my phone switched tabs. Disregard that

Hahahaha VA :)

I think that she's fine, especially with all the enchantment hate going 'round. Also, she has relevant abilities to stop blocker so you can get that last bit of damage in.

Hmmm, okay, I'll try and test her, and see if she works well. Thanks guys!

Very few people will side in enchantment hate against RDW unless your running eidolon. RDW doesn't run more than 2 copies of post anyways, so having a blank card in your hand during a game that will largely be decided based on the first 12 cards you see is about as agonizing as it gets. Besides, RDW does fine without post as is. In my opinion, it might even be unnecessary in most cases. Chandra falls into the same boat. I prefer her in a mid-rangey build.

Yeah, Chandra, Pyromaster is seeing a bit more play than before, due simply to the reality that is Dromoka's Command. I actually went to a 2-2 split between Chandra and Outpost Siege in my Boros aggro list and to be honest, it really worked well. At least they have to spend a Hero's Downfall on Chandra and not one of your creatures.

But I still think that, outside the Abzan and GW Devotion matchups, that Outpost Siege is a generally stronger choice. Especially against the format's control decks.

I'm with JakeHarlow. Especially since we're seeing U/B lean away form Perilous Vault and more towards dragon-centric approaches with Crux of Fate.

Okay, what about in a meta that is more focused on mid-range and aggro? Because that's what mine is. I haven't seen a single control player yet in my meta, so this is why I'm asking lol.

In that case, RDW should look to duck under the curve, not go for things like resolving 4-drops. The only 4-drop I'd run would be Stoke the Flames. You'd be rewarded for playing boss slight. It actually has a decent shot s control as well, although the matchup swings heavily to control on game 2.

If you're trying to attacking and your meta is full of creatures then Chandra will usually outperform Outpost Siege. Splitting is not a bad option at all.

That's pretty true. Also, Chandra's utility against aggro decks is considerable. Her +1 enables her to do away with a lot of smaller threats while simultaneously ticking down either your opponent's life total or on of his/her planeswalkers' loyalty counters.

Ya, she definitely seems like a 1-of in a few situations, if that. I happen to be in one of those situations. Thanks a ton for the input guys!

I think another benefit of Chandra, Pyromaster is her seeming unthreatening nature, which is nice utility; why am I wasting removal to get rid of something that does one damage to me? I'd be hard pressed to find an excuse to Hero's Downfall her if you have a 3 drop on board that's more threatening.
