Is Reverberate a sideboard-worthy card?

at worst, it could be an extra Lightning Bolt, at best it could be a Cryptic Command that can blow out their own cryptic

but it does seem very clunky, thoughts?

I'm not a fan. I think I'd rather be doing a proactive thing than hoping they have something cool to copy.

I agree with the guy above. I'd rather save that slot for a proactive card than a reactive. Especially in Modern. I do not know much about the format though, so I may not be the most reliabe source. It seems like it wants to be good, and maybe it was good in standard, but along with double and the fact that its only a copy spell it doesnt seem worth the slot.

I was thinking about ways to deal with Cryptic Command, as its usually what keeps me from pushing through the last few points of damage. Are there any other ways to deal with cryptic in a non-blue deck?

The best way is honestly to wait it out. They aren't going to draw infinite Cryptic Commands to tap your guys, and wasting a sideboard slot on it is not worth it. Additional discard spells generally help control and combo matchups.

Thanks, but it still feels so bad to be blown out by cryptic time after time

It depends on what you mean by blown out. If they're tapping your creatures and drawing a card, it's not that bad. Just board in Thoughtseize.

Also, learn to play around it. Cast spells postcombat, etc.

Its not as much as casting creatures before/after combat, its just that if theyre at say, 9 life, and I have 11 power on board, any mode of cryptic + tap would stall them another turn (or potentially more if they choose to bounce)

That's not a blowout. They're just stalling, and that's not a real issue. Again, discard spells will do remarkably well.

People complain that this list has a lot of fringe cards, but then they never say which ones to remove when I ask them ...

Defense Grid helps against control cards if your having a hard time against Cryptic Command.

best possible use I could imagine is a budget Snapcaster Mage if Toshiro Umezawa isn't to your liking?

Defense Grid sounds like it might be exactly what I was looking for, I'll go do some testing the moment I get un-busy
