If you've looked at the spoilers you'll see many things UNPLAYABLE in modern. Especially Oracle's Vault. But, if you stack your deck with voltaic keys, gonti's aether heart, emarkul, cantrips, ramp, AND A WHOLE LOT OF LANDS you get a decent modern deck, ill see how it plays out after the release, suggestions?

I mean, I'm absolutely loving it for EDH. Gonna break Atraxa wide-fuckin' open.

Also probs Breya.

You have to play a 4 mana artifact on turn 4, protect it for 4 turns, and then you get to cast the top card of your deck for free.

The artifact does nothing on its own until the 4th turn. It costs 2 mana per turn. And dies to artifact hate, which we all know is pretty common in modern.

Compare to Nahiri, the Harbinger. Sure she has a coloured mana cost, but given how those colours give you Bolt and Path, generally they are fine in control. Her ability lets you loot, or just +2 her, without an additional resource cost. She can also be minused to be removal. Her ult, which she reaches and can use on the 4th turn as well, without destroyng herself, tutors a creature from deck, say Emrakul and gives them haste.

sooo Ana control with wincon emrabrand? The problem is dropping this down and getting to the right amount of bricks. but I can see a proliferate control deck. Fancy brewing time soon.

in Atraxa you will only need one 2 turns. One if you have Doubling Season

All ideas so far have relied heavily upon your opponent leaving you alone for 4 or 5 turns, as well as having very decent draws. Example:

T 1: land, mana dork.

T 2: land, ramp.

T 3: land, vault. 1 mana left over.... Lightning Bolt? Voltaic Key?

T 4: spend 2 mana, tap vault, spend 3 mana on a proliferate-card (there aren't any cheaper, iirc).

T 5: another proliferate spell. now play that top-card, and hope its not, say... another land.

Problem is that the combo eats your mana for several turns, and relies on many moving parts, that can't be used for anything else. Since Oracle's Vault taps to put counters on, it doesn't even help to have much mana - you can't hurry it up without yet one more card. Any decent modern deck will be long done with the game, before a vault deck has even found all its pieces.

OK, let me get this straight. Oracle's vault is a bad card. It is a worse variant of Coercive Portal or even Outpost Siege. It does not do much without a lot of other cards and what it does is not amazing for the investment you put into it.
