Prototype Deck - Development Help

Mkay, so I've been shooting together a bizarre idea for a deck around. It's either going to be one of three things in the end: totally awesome, meagerly mediocre, or just an idea that looked good on paper, but doesn't work.

So, down to the nitty-gritty. Can't Spell Funeral Without FUN.

My idea is, to get the lands down and get to a Nirkana Revenant . Sadistic sacrament and mind funeral seems to float around in the deck with relative ease, so I rarely go too long without drawing into them. Nirkana is there not only to be a little stompy when I need her, but mostly to kick Sadistic Sacrament , where I get to go through and take out 15 cards I want to see the opponent do without. The idea is to count out their lands, and take out as many as I can, hoping that tome scour has knocked out a few. Usually this leaves behind 3 lands, or zero with cards left to spare for me to take out instead.

Enter Mind Funeral . The end. :)

I've not gotten the rest of the cards to build this (why spend money or trade off for a deck you're unsure of?) And I've only gotten to playtest this once or twice. Any constructive suggestions will be greatly appreciated... and vote it up if you like it. If it's utter crap, and I hear that enough times from respectable people, I'll let the dream die, and remain awesome in theory. :P

Thanks ahead of time!

So, I'd say it's really clanky. It sounds to me like you're gameplan is to tutor out a 6 mana creature with 2 ramp spells, in order to kick another spell for 10 mana, and then cast another spell to win the game. Meanwhile you're removal is 3x Cancel and 2x Dead Reckoning .

I wouldn't say abandon the idea, but you've got to re-evaluate the slots. If your goal is to kick a Sadistic Sacrament , then you need ramp in more forms than the vampire. I'd star by upping your Everflowing Chalice s to 4. Second if you need to manipulate your draws, I think you can replace all of your Ponders, tutors, and See Beyonds with something like 4x Crystal Ball 2x Augury Owl , since it's not huge that you 'net' a lot of cards with your deck.

Last, I'd use Haunting Echoes as your wincon. It'll win you more games and will win you games even win you don't hit your combo.

PS: Ravenous Trap is a sweet sb card.

I'd say more, but I need to go to bed. Happy building!

Thanks, kabrazell, for these suggestions. I'll have to sit on it more. The Haunting Echoes idea tickles my fancy, as decks I tend to play and enjoy more have more than one, really frustrating to the opponent win condition (aka my vamps deck).

I got to the point with this where I just need fresh eyes... been to befuddled working on 5 decks at once. I worked on this more before M11 came out, and now that it's come it's a whole new lot of cards to simmer through.

If I'm confident I can get this deck up to snuff, I'd love to tournament it and see how great (or terrible it does).

What do you say to Liliana Vess ? I've got three of her lying around from an old black mill/discard I ran. I know her last ability isn't going to be all that great with Haunting Echoes and Ravenous Trap , but the first two may help me condense some cards? I may still have a Haunting Echoes left in my trade binder to yank out before someone else wants it.

I'm reposting this. SO, if it shows elsewhere I apologize.

My friends and I play pauper legacy around the kitchen table. So, what Red, White or Red/White combo commons does everyone think are the most powerful ever? As long as it was a common in at least 1 set, we allow it even if you have an uncommon printing from another set. An example of this is Oblivion Ring. It was originally released as a common, then re-released as an uncommon.

Are you looking for actual combo pieces? Things like Pestermite + Splinter Twin ?

Or are you just looking for a good RW pauper deck?

Run Delver in Pauper, it's basically a Legacy deck.

I have a red/white pauper deck. I am simply looking for suggestions because I may change it around.
