Me and a friend of mine were at a Meijer yesterday and we were browsing around the card section, not planning on buying anything really when we noticed a small goof. You know those packs of three that have a promo in it, like Hamletback Goliath or Angelic Skirmisher? Those packs that are priced MSRP for $11.99? They had those packs listed for $4.19. Needless to say me and my friend bought all of them. The packs actually split up perfectly and we each got 10 Return to Ravnica packs, 5 Journey into Nyx packs, and 2 each of Theros, Gatecrash, and Dragon's Maze for only $31. That's like $1.50 per pack.
My notable pulls were Stomping Ground, Hallowed Fountain, Blood Crypt, Pithing Needle, Master of the Feast, Detention Sphere, Worst Fears, Desecration Demon, and a Vraska Assassin token.
I just wanted to brag a little because nothing awesome ever happens to me like this.

Not quite sure what the promo $11.99 packs are, but those are some respectable pulls, especially from half the packs, right? What did your friend pull? Very nice! Wish I could find deals like that.

Well, technically they were placed on a wrong hanger, as the $4.19 was for Theros booster packs, but they didn't have a slot for the three-pack product so a manager let us get them for the cheaper price.

The promo packs are repacks (I believe) of older sets that are sold at large chain stores. They come with one pack of three random sets (Dark Ascension, M12, and M13 was the most recent one that I purchased, I've seen Inninstrad, Scars, and RTR in them as well), and they come with some random bad promo like those listed above.
I usually get one or two a year just to blow a little cash and see if I get anything cool from an older set.
And if buddy guy here can get us a picture, i'll be all up in every walmart ever asking for a price match.

Hmm, don't think I've ever seen those. That'd be cool to get some older boosters though.

I actually saw some that had packs of Fallen Empires mixed with RtR and Gatecrash. I was interested until I looked up the value of the cards in Fallen Empires. In retrospect, I probably should have bought at least one, just to have a pack-fresh Hymn to Tourach, but I passed it up. I'm pretty sure those are what WotC uses to get rid of their spare product

I saw someone get an apocalypse pack in one of those... Unfortunately they didn't get anything in it...

I got one of those and it had a legions booster pack in it :) didn't get anything good but it was still fun
