Could a modern lifegain deck (like this: Ultimate Life Leech) ever become competitive?

i like to discover cards, and create my own deck with it, but whenever i see tournament winning decks its alway far from something similar i have...

Is there something im not taking into account? can you give me advice on this particular deck, and what i need to do to make something competitive? (or just drop this one all together)

Ultimate Life Leech

thnx

You should really be playing all of the soul sisters, i.e. Soul Warden and Soul's Attendant . The deck is normally mono-white with Martyr of Sands being ridiculous. Ranger of Eos lets you find the soul sisters for more ridiculous lifegain.

haha nice! yeah got that comment just now and put them in with 1 Hero of Bladehold

replaced Tragic Slip with Path to Exile

and removed 1 of Exquisite Blood , Sanguine Bond and Beacon of Immortality and got rid of both the Nyx-Fleece Ram

The BloodBond combo can very easily go. It's not necessary to win, and is very unwieldy to get off. In general, I recommend cutting the really expensive cards and focusing on the cheap lifegain cards, with only Ranger of Eos as your four-drop because it's a great card advantage engine.

hmm, i dont need to put them down as a combo, they work great seperated from each other, especially sanguine bond.

why do you prefer Ranger of Eos that only generates 2 cards once over Hero of Bladehold that generates 2 cards whenever i need to, even if i ran out of sisters?also, i dont need to be too carefull with keeping the tokens alive, while i have to do that with the sisters

You can certainly play both. Ranger of Eos finds you more of the actual soul sisters, meaning that the lifegain will be exponential. Hero of Bladehold is more aggressive, but provides less actual lifegain.

Sanguine Bond is not at all necessary, nor is the entire black splash. It's much too clunky in your deck that wants to play multiple creatures every turn instead of a 5 mana card that does nothing the turn it enters play.
