So, my shop is doing a pauper EDH type thing, with all sets from Innistrad to now, and I'm trying to build one before FNM. I've got the vague idea of a Spellheart Chimera deck, but honestly I'm kind of fumbling around.
I'm just looking for a fun general to use, in any colour really.
And just in case anyone is unfamiliar with Pauper EDH, the general is an uncommon, everything else is common, everything else is commander as normal.
Spellheart Chimera is lots of fun. By turn 4, you can have Spellheart Chimera on the field ready to attack, Shock your opponent, followed by Lightning Strike, then Titan's Strength your Chimera, then swing for 6. By the end of that turn you've already dealt 11 damage. Not too bad I'd say

Spellheart Chimera is pretty beast. Pack in cheap burn, bounce, counter, and draw, some spell recycling creatures like Archaeomancer for when you need something back, Goblin Electromancer, maybe a Nivix Cyclops if you need backup for your commander. Titan's Strength and maybe some other red pump spells, burn bounce and cripple your opponent's creatures, smash with the chimera.

I've never played pauper EDH but Blaze Commando has always looked good to me.
Adding the restriction of "Innistrad-Now" seems a little weird though. It cuts off a lot of the stronger non-creature commons and pushes the format toward grindy creature based games. It may be worth looking into W/U flyers or something in the meta that would create. Drogskol Captain may be worth looking in to for such a deck.

Just as far as the Innistrad-Now restriction, that's so it's fair to the newer players, so it's even more casual than normal EDH.

My favorite personally is Psychatog, but many people don't even know that card exists. Also, it isn't in your restrictions.

And see Psychatog is 25 cents and most commons are there or less so for $25 someone could have a pauper EDH deck even if they own 0 magic cards currently. I'm not sure what the restriction does outside of selling packs of the boxes likely to be in stock at the LGS.

Apologies, I wasn't completely clear, the cards must have been standard legal between Innistrad and Fate Reforged.
And the reason my LGS is running it is because they want their players to have fun...

I've got three pretty strong PDH decks. Fusion Elemental voltron, Scarland Thrinax with a strong steal and saq theme, and a Sigil Captain deck that turns my weenies into serious threats.

Chandra's Spitfire is quite good.If you are allowed to go as far back as Fusion Elemental then that can be fun as well...
Spellheart Chimera is also a fun thing to do, you could make it work...
