Help with Narset, Enlightened Master

Commander Deck Help forum

So, I've got a question you probably won't see very often on these forums...what are some ways to power down a Narset, Enlightened Master Voltron deck? Right now my deck is a fairly casual build, just a bunch of pet Equipments and Auras like Bludgeon Brawl, living weapons, and Volition Reins. However, it's still virtually unstoppable by anything except mono-U control or infinite combos, and my playgroup is much too casual to bust out those decks often. (My meta has Ghave, Sharuum, Anax/Cymede, Nekusar, etc. Mostly casual decks)

What are ways I can power Narset down enough to make her playable and fun without a) spending gobs of money, or b) losing the control/aggro feel of the deck? I've tried switching commanders to Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest but it's not much better. I'm okay with switching from Voltron to another win-con, but I don't really want to change colors. Fellow Jeskai players, I'd love to see decklists, but I'd take anybody's two cents at this point.

There's no way, Narset deserves to be banned as a commander because it's impossible not to have a broken deck.

No extra turn spells. No extra combat phases. No land destruction.

If your opponents can't deal with narset at that point then idk what to say.

Budget cards like Wing Shards can slow her down. Sheoldred, Whispering One is a non budget idea. There are tons of sac spells that don't target. Narset is the only creature in my deck - save a few manlands - so that stuff is usually what hurts me. That and Counterspells if I don't have Cavern of Souls

By now they should all be running Arcane Lighthouse. It's really good in any deck that has spot removal.

If my narset deck is winning; it's usually because I'm about to take 3+ turns in a row and everyone folds. You've taken a challenge upon yourself to build the deck in a more "fair" fashion. Something that needs to deal commander damage in multiplayer is hard. Really hard. It sounds like you've lived up to your challenge, now they should too lol

There's only a very few archetypes for Jeskai in commander, making most every build fairly close to each other, with only a few cards' variant.

That being said, I feel that Ruhan of the Fomori has the possibility to change the most from build to build, and therefore would be your best bet in regards to versatility for different archetypes.

I don't run any jeskai decks because of the aforementioned build restrictions, but I wish you all the luck in the world!

BTW, edhrec(dot)com is a great resource for folks that want ideas for decks.

I played Narset with few extra turn-spells, and no land destruction (it's a gentlemens rule at our playgroup) but instead I played a lot of planeswalkers. The thing that mostly made win wasn't that I killed everyone, but the fact that my opponents recognised that they couldn't stop me and that my turns took too long so they just scooped :/But if you really wanna slow her down, you can remove the extra combat-spells. That way, you'll only have 1 Narset-trigger each turn

Thanks, folks! Some good suggestions there. I think I'll be able to make some good changes -- or at least suggest some good cards to my opponents, haha. Thanks again, chiefen1991 greyninja Steelspike let me know if I can ever return the favor.
