Hello! I really liked your deck, but help me with something, what is the reason to run Aether Spellbomb? I'm new to cEDH and don't know if there is an interaction I don't see or just because it's a 1 drop that's very versatile because it let's you generate mana, draw or bounce.

Thanks a lot

MBarbosa it's a cheap artifact that we can use for mana with Urza as well as an on board threat to bounce any creature that may pose a threat to the game or a way to save our Urza from commander tax if he cant be saved from removal. We can also use it to blink gilded drake back to our hand to permanently steal multiple creatures for value. With codex shredder loops we can bounce infinite creatures or draw infinite cards. It's just a very powerful utility artifact in the deck

Any stand out new cards from Ikoria you're thinking of adding?

I wanted to get your thoughts on Urza stax vs combo. I currently play a hard stax list, and while very similar, because the deck focuses so hard on locks it allows us to free up slots for more draw spells as well as run fewer win conditions, but get to them just as consistently. How do you feel a deck like that compares to more of a fast combo list like this?

Additionally, there are a lot of cards that many Urza lists consider auto includes, e.g. Trail of Evidence and Capsize, and do you think that those cards are really effective? i have found that Trail especially makes your a target while providing marginal return.

Lastly, I feel like Paradoxical Outcome could be super good, but I'm just not sure. What do you think?

Is there a place here for Fierce Guardianship? I think that counter is a blue staple now.

anvildust it typically plays as both, you're flexible enough that you can pivot your gameplan based on what people are doing and have control when its necessary. Being a mono color gives you limited options but being blue and having the ability to turn off symmetrical stax pieces swings things in your favor. That versatility is nice to have in faster or grindier games. As this isnt really balls to the wall combo or heavy stax but a good mix of both

Capsize acts as good removal with how much mana we can produce and also a win condition is that's the out we have to play, bounce everything then leave up Trinisphere while you bounce and replay your own Urza after you've made infinite mana...your opponents have nothing and cant interact you have a big board of inf/inf constructs, timewalk and go to combat.

I've thought about PO but just csnt seem to find a reasonable cut, especially in my meta but its definitely worth testing

Trial is a good card that both ramps and draws for us when urza is out. But, when we lose urza to drake or transformations, or he's been hated off the table, it becomes a second copy of him, allowing us to draw out and win.

Amazing card for urza.

In your opinion does Unwinding clock pull it's weight in this deck? I've noticed a pretty 50-50 split between people running it or not and I recently cut it from my deck as it didn't feel like it impacted things quickly enough to be taking up a 4 drop slot in the deck. That being said the card feels like it should be ridiculous in Urza and I always want to find space for it but it always feels disappointing when I play it. Specifically it feels disappointing in the sense that I find I almost always have it in hand when I don't really need more ramp and would prefer interaction/a tutor/or a win-con. Or I find that it helps me get more value out of cards like Mana Vault on my turn but I don't end up taking any advantage of it on my opponents turns (and it doesn't feel worth it to run the card if I only want it due to how it works with Vault/the Monoliths). What are your thoughts?

KailDaemon Thoughts on Vesuva? It has worked for me in the past, very flexible card.

NiftyCheshireCat it's been fine when I'm at a more grindy table but bad when I'm up against faster decks, its 50/50 in performance but nice when u do have it...honestly probably 1st cut if something else pops up

Stumpy123 not too many lands I'd want to have other than I currently have in the deck. But it could be nice in a more casual setting I suppose. Unsure of what useful land I need other than a basic island tbh

KailDaemon Have you considered cutting Unwinding Clock for Aphetto Alchemist? Comes out faster (though it doesn't have haste), gives you a similar effect to Unwinding Clock (while less powerful overall, it instead helps make individual turns more explosive but brings less long term value), and also has the added side benefit of creating another infinite mana loop with Rings of Brighthearth and Grim Monolith/Mana Vault which gives Rings of Brighthearth a nice bit of extra flexibility if someone deals with Basalt Monolith. Just a thought! I really like the deck :) Urza is one of my favorites

Edit It might also be a decent replacement for Voltaic Key, but obviously Voltaic Key does also work nicely as a 1 cmc rock in Urza so that might tip the scales in it's favor. Just my 2 cents, personally I've been disappointed by the performance of both the Key and the Clock in my Urza build previously but that's purely subjective.

In my urza list I really like Duplicant, like Vesuva It is never a bad draw. Just my 2 cents, I play semi competitively

By the way Dramatic Reversal goes infinite with isochron and urza

May 24, 2020 2:05 a.m.

I know it's hard to cut cards and make room, but I'm interested in no Trophy Mage. I see lists without basalt rings combo not run it (which is correct IMO). But I feel like it's pretty important if you do run that combo, cause it can be versatile, also grabbing trinisphere and static orb. Making room is hard tho lol

Why the fetches in mono u?

June 22, 2020 9:29 p.m.

KailDaemon says... #20

OMGimaBox deck shuffles are good when you know what's lined up on top via SDT, shuffle away the shuffle you don't want to draw makes you more consistent on hitting the stuff you do want to draw. Also getting lands out of our deck faster. The less lands we have in our deck the more likely we are to hit something useful off Urza if we arent going infinite.

Anyone else trying to figure out what to cut in their list for the new Teferi?

July 4, 2020 12:24 p.m.

KailDaemon says... #22

anvildust I dont think people are slotting in teferi for cedh. Not strong enough since itll more likely die before it gets back to your turn and doesnt impact the board enough outside of looting

For the budget deck have you thought about adding Key to the City over Sensei's Divining Top? I think it makes a great draw engine for infinate draw or even a card a turn. Play it and tap it for blue, then every untap phase retap it for 1 and tap something else and boom additional draw!

Or adding Deadeye Navigator as a budget way to make infinite constructs?
