Some Updates and Consideration —Aug. 12, 2012

Swapped Nearheath Pilgrim with Grand Abolisher between respective boards. Added in Ground Seal to counteract reanimator and delver, while also providing a nice cantrip effect.

I'm considering adding in Garruk, Primal Hunter, at least in the sideboard. This gives me a really good draw engine + creature spawning against decks that try and drag the game out with board wipes.

What is your main beater? If you say Champion of Lambholt , Restoration Angel will be kinda detrimental to her. Have you considered card:Ranger's Guile? Also, I know you are running Thalia, Guardian of Thraben but I have found Fungal Sprouting to be INSANE with both Champion of Lambholt and Sublime Archangel .

I see a lot of good cards, but not a lot of synergy, Silverblade Paladin wants to attack WITH his bond-mate not sit back and watch, so I don't really understand his inclusion. Restoration Angel hoses both Champion of the Parish AND Champion of Lambholt so all in all I think you should pick a direction that doesn't include Champion of the Parish and Champion of Lambholt or a direction that doesn't hose those creatures.

Like I said, Good creatures but not good together IMO. If you have a big Champion of X/Y then the LAST thing you want to topdeck is Restoration Angel as it will reset all of the counters.

I don't understand at all why you think Restoration Angel hoses either Champion. Do you think I'm talking about flickering them specifically? I'm talking about flickering other creatures to add another counter to them. Also, Paladin is mostly to give double strike to whatever creature I want to be attacking, which is great for 3 mana; however, there are some cases where I'll be doing more damage by swinging all in, which is also good. Also to note that Restoration Angel's effect is a may effect anyway, so if one of the Champions is the only thing on board, I can still put her down without doing it. I saw your deck that had Fungal Sprouting in it, and I've been thinking about testing it out, but I'm not sure what to take out for it.

Restoration Angel 's ability is a may. You don't have to bounce a big Champion if you don't want to. Not sure where you're getting that from Ohthenoises.

Well if you go with tokens you kinda have to commit to it.

I was referring to flickering the Champions and I know that it's a may but if someone goes to target kill it you have no way to save either of them. It's good if you flicker others, yes, but your Champions have no protection and that's why my first question was about who your main beater is. If it is either Champion you might need to look into more protection for them.

My point about Silverblade Paladin is that he is more of an aggro card and less of an exalted card.

All of this is my own opinion. :P

I never said it was a must ConBurnMadMan but my point was that he has no protection for either champion. In his description he states that he uses Restoration Angel to protect his creatures and if he uses them as beaters he has no protection with them.

My main beaters are Knight of Glory , Champion of the Parish , Champion of Lambholt , and Sublime Archangel . But the thing about exalted is that anyone can be a beater once Sublime hits the board. I feel like Restoration Angel is far more versatile and syngerstic in a deck looking to have lots of bodies (as well as providing way less of a dead draw as a top-deck). While it's nice that card:Ranger's Guile and similar provide that instantaneous protection, I think it's more important to get those bodies out. Truth be told I always forget I can flicker creatures to protect them with the Angel. XD I have thought about putting in one or two card:Faith's Shield, but most times they just come off as cute more than anything else; however, there is something to be said with shield, since at times and can make a card pretty much unblockable. If you think it's a better idea, I'll try out more Ajani than Paladin.

I never said in my description that I used Restoration Angel for that. :P

Oh and +1

I meant my own Fiend Hunters, but that's also true, guess I wasn't clear. xPWhat do you think of more Ajani? He provides double strike like Paladin; however, he also provides a better post-wipe option with his ultimate

I like him a lot with exalted but he has the same issue with counters and flicker so I guess I would answer that with the question "What do you plan on dropping those counters on and how important are they to you?"

It's really too bad that is specifies Non-angel... go go infinite combos!

August 9, 2012 11:18 p.m.

The counters aren't really that important to me; however, I could put them on Sublime Archangel to protect her from Slagstorm and weak Bonfires, or I could put them on Lambolt. The fact that he gets one more Loyalty interests me far more than the one counter does, if that makes sense. My only issue with Ajani is that it's been a bitch to even get to Sublimes, so I'm not sure how much effort I want to invest in getting Ajanis as well. xD

LOL well look at it this way.. someone SOMEWHERE will come up with a white deck using both of them that will top 8 so either you will have good trade fodder or a good base for the deck.

August 9, 2012 11:22 p.m.

Yeah, I was really hoping the Sublimes were going to drop after prerelease was over, but lo and behold it's looking like they're going up.

I think I like ajani > silverblade pretty much 100% just based on the fact that silverblade wants to attack TOO not watch someone else do it.

August 9, 2012 11:26 p.m.

I'm definitely going to test more Ajanis out, but I feel like it's more that you want Silverblade to attack, not that he wants to. :P as a 2/2 with Double Strike he's a great blocker if it comes to that, and otherwise the deck is built to swing with everything if that's more optimal. Thanks for the advice. :)
