Eternally Great —May 24, 2019

Removed - Arlinn Kord Added - God-Eternal, Kefnet

Looking forward to seeing what's possible with his copy ability. With Scroll Rack and Expropriate, I can pull infinite turns (which I know I want to do at least one time). Even having him on the field at the same time as Riku of Two Reflections will be pretty stupid...

Hey! Sorry, didn't get any kind of notification that you commented... I'd love to put Vorinclex in the deck, but he's really oppressive, and not really something that would be well received in my playgroup. This is probably the most powerful deck that shows up at the table on a given night, and if it's left unchecked it's just a matter of turns before the game is over. To have him in the deck would pretty well make him the prime target for any type of creature fetch since he'd be so useful. For the other players though, you know exactly how it would turn out. Winter orb style effects are painful to play against.

Hmm question, I wonder why you don't use much ramp spells or is this more of a casual deck?

Wouldn't Craterhoof Behemoth run great as well as it has good synergy with Avengers?

Also Arbiter of the Ideal seems pretty good since you are also running Djinn and Diluvian Primordial. Chancellor of the Spires also seems great for spell usage.

Lots of ramp in the deck actually. Recross the Paths is potentially reusable, Gilded Lotus, Mana Crypt and Sol Ring are fantastic, Unexpected Results has pretty much a one in three chance of hitting a land, Worldly Tutor fetches us Sylvan Caryatid, Karametra's Acolyte, Oracle of Mul Daya, Sakura-Tribe Elder, Solemn Simulacrum, or Yavimaya Elder (in the deck now, haven't listed the most recent changes).

I've only got one Craterhoof, and it's in my Doran, the Siege Tower deck. I'd put him in, but for what it's worth, I enjoy the interaction between dropping Hellrider and swinging with dozens of plants instead of just rolling over with huge Hoof-boosted ones. Fun for me I guess, something different since I can just throw the majority of the damage right at the opponent.

I honestly thought about running Arbiter of the Ideal when it was first spoiled. I still might, but only if I get around to trading for a foil. Most of this deck is foil already (despite the fact that it isn't indicated on tappedout). Earlier versions played Chancellor of the Spires actually, and although it was a fun card to have (who doesn't like free spells???), my group was running loads of grave hate and it ended up getting cut since it never had enough targets anyway.

Oh that's right, I guess you wouldn't need much land ramp since you have all the mana dorks and mana rocks to make it happen. How is Intet running for you threat wise? I know in my playgroup they sometimes let me set up but that is in a 50/50 chance as they know once I get up to 8+ land by turn 3 I am going to pull something nasty. I might switch off some cards to tone down the threat level.

Wouldn't Mana Reflection, Rattleclaw Mystic, Sylvan Library, or Scroll Rack be any use? Or you like the randomness in what Intet pulls when she flips? xD

I run jace the mind sculptor, sensei's divining top, scroll rack and worldly tutor to help with top deck control. I'm usually very well aware of what's on top. There's also Oracle of mul daya and courser of kruphix which leave the top card up anyway so I know whether or not to spend the 2U for her ability.

As far as setting up, it's a matter of threat assessment for me. Lack of blue players and I'll just go for it. Usually able to drop her by turn 4 or 5 on a decent hand. If she dies, I'll likely have something in my hand to play next turn while I find 2 more mana to cast her again. I run enough counter effects that later in the game I can manage a good counterspell battle when it comes if I need to.

Sylvan library will come when I can afford a Legends copy. I'm fussy, lol

you say you run a decent amount of counters yet i see only one counter spell, glen elandra and mystic snake, also future sight is a better place than courser of kruphix imo as you can cast the top card no matter what it is

Counterspells - Overwhelming Intellect, Spell Crumple, Plasm Capture, Glen Elendra Archmage, Mystic Snake, as well as Snapcaster who can recur at least one, and Eternal witness as well. I used to run Spelljack, Counterlash, and a few others. In my meta, unless it's going to ruin everyone's day, most people just let spells go. Keeps it interesting and we can always find another way to deal with things. I agree with your thoughts on Courser however, and I may make that change in the future.

why do you use Hellrider over Shaman of the Great Hunt?

February 10, 2015 9:10 p.m.

hkhssweiss says... #16

I think its because it's a more recent card so he might've not gotten it yet, although it is quite a good card that helps with card advantage. But Hellrider procs on attack while Shaman procs on combat damage.

WicKid52 says... #17

true, but with an aggro deck, especially one like this, card draw is at a premium.

February 11, 2015 10:59 a.m.

elchucko says... #18

Gotta admit, I'd most likely find a way to run both of them. Hellrider has won me a pile of games after dropping Avenger of Zendikar with Deadeye to make oodles of tokens to swing with. Add prophet of kruphix into the mix and it's even more sickening. Now to start looking for a Shaman of the Great Hunt (Foil even!)
