Pulling it all together —July 17, 2012

So I finally have everything ordered and it looks like I may have all the cards in by this upcoming Friday but it will be cutting it very close. If everything does arrive on time I will be using this deck at FNM, WOO! If not, I have a mono-black zombie deck I have been itching to use as well that has worked well against my friends decks already.

I actually thought about using both of those cards but I decided against them. card:Geralf's Mindcrusher is nice because of its ability but its only a one time thing and to really get the best use out of it I would need to run something like Ghostly Flicker or Nephalia Smuggler to really make the best use of it and neither one of those cards really work well with the rest of the deck and with card:Geralf's Mindcrusher being a 6 drop it really isn't worth the mana either. Sands of Delirium I think is an awesome card but, it wouldn't really be useful until mid to late game just because I need the mana early game for counter spells for when people start wanting to kill my flyers or Jace. That's why I went for Trepanation Blade instead because it essentially does the same thing with out paying mana and buffing an attacking creature, honestly I am thinking about dropping Elixir of Immortality just to add 2 more.

Well you can actually use card:Geralf's Mindcrusher's effect twice. It has Undying. So it enters as a 5/5 and mills 5, and when it dies, it reenters as a 6/6 that mills 5 more. It's a big creatures that still mills. Also, if you did include something like Nephalia Smuggler , you could blink it after it had gotten its +1/+1 counter and reset its Undying. Actually, that's not a terrible idea for a mill deck. I may try it myself, but you're still welcome to it if you like :)

I think Undead Alchemist should be a serious consideration here, especially if you end up using card:Geralf's Mindcrusher.

And Sands of Delirium gets far more uses than Dream Twist and can be a mana-sink ANY time you have left over mana.

To be honest it looks like you're far more likely to win as a result of damage. If you really want to do milling as the main win-con, rather than a desperate alternative, try some cards like Increasing Confusion and Dreadwaters . I've seen both used very efficiently in my friends mill deck. Also, if you can get your hands on any, Snapcaster Mage would double the value of the Dreadwaters or mindsculpt.

You will lose to aggro every time. Not even a Devastation Tide ? How the hell are you going to live past turn 6 let alone win turn 15+ ? Needs more effective chumps, etc.

Undead Alchemist is weak to removal, but can be a win con as a 1 of if you combo him with Jace or a mindsculpt.
