Ugin, the Spirit Dragon -x lands?
Asked by iCreamed 9 years ago
I tried looking up if Ugin can use -x = -0 to get rid of lands but I couldn't find anything on the internet. If you guys could shed some light I would appreciate it. I do know Ugin gets rid of tokens the same way with -x=0, I just don't know if land is the same.
Sorry for the confusion on the links!
I thought lands were the color of the mana they produce? So Forest would be green, for example. I am newer to the world of MTG so please excuse my lack of experience.

A permanent's color is defined by the mana symbols in its casting costs. Lands have no casting costs,so they have no color.
202.2. An object is the color or colors of the mana symbols in its mana cost, regardless of the color of its frame.
202.2b Objects with no colored mana symbols in their mana costs are colorless.

Only way to get Ugin, the Spirit Dragon to do that is having Painter's Servant on the battlefield naming a color.

That's 99.93% true.
The other 0.07% say otherwise:

Oh and the wonderful Dryad Arbor to satisfy the "permanent" portion of your post. :)

So with Eight-and-a-Half-Tails, I could make all the lands my opponent controls white, and then use the second ability because now they are technically a color?

@Raging_Squiggle: Yeah, my post did actually include the color indicator, but I deleted that part, because I thought it would complicate matters needlessly.

Of course it would, but what's the fun of not unnecessarily complicating things? Lol.

Hi, welcome to TappedOut!

Ugin, the Spirit Dragon's second ability states
"Exile each permanent with converted mana cost X or less that's one or more colors."
Lands are colorless permanents, so Ugin can't exile them.
