Is there a way to use Boseiju, Who Shelters All's ability to make a spell that only has colored mana in its cost uncounterable?

Is there a way to use Boseiju, Who Shelters All 's "can't be countered" clause with a spell that doesn't have colorless mana in its cost? Something like Cruel Ultimatum or Glittering Wish .

I assume filtering like Prophetic Prism wouldn't work, since you'd be spending the mana on the filtering rather than on the sorcery/instant. And you can't just choose to pay 1 extra mana - paying costs doesn't work that way.

But what about mana replacement effects like Contamination or Hall of Gemstone ? This seems like it might work, but I'm not certain of the nuances.

If you can't use the mana from Boseiju, Who Shelters All to pay for part of the casting cost of an instant or sorcery, that instant or sorcery can still be countered. You can't pay colorless mana for cards like Cruel Ultimatum or Glittering Wish .

You are correct in saying that filtering won't work, since you're using the mana on an ability instead of to pay for a spell. However, if you can change the type of mana Boseiju produces as it's being produced (I.e. with Contamination or Hall of Gemstone ), then the uncounterable effect will still apply.

I'm not sure about the ruling for Contamination or Hall of Gemstone . Those would probably work since they force the mana to be produced in a certain color.

Alternately, and likely less optimal, would be to run something that adds Colorless mana to the cost, like Gloom , Squeeze , or Lodestone Golem

Thalia would work as well.

Yeah, I guess if you make your spells cost more by playing something silly like Thalia, Guardian of Thraben you could make this happen. If that's your plan, though, just hold a counterspell to protect your own spell.

I forgot to mention the "you may spend mana as though it were X" cards like Mycosynth Lattice and North Star in my question. Those will definitely work with Boseiju.

Things like Thalia or Lodestone Golem work, but why jump through hoops like that when you can just play a spell like card:Autumn's Veil, Overmaster or Vexing Shusher ?
