Interaction between Yedora, Grave Gardener and Bull Elephant

Asked by CamraMaan 1 year ago

Excuse the seemingly dumb question, but I just want to confirm that with Yedora, Grave Gardener, when Bull Elephant ETBs I can return two Yedora-flipped creature/Forests back to my hand, allowing me to cast those creatures again, correct? Thanks in advance! :)

Yes, you can do exactly that. That's why Quirion Ranger and Scryb Ranger are as great with Yedora as they are.

Another stupid follow-up question, but whenever a creature comes back as a land from/by Yedora, it is considered to be a land entering the battlefield, correct?

Yes, that's correct.

Basically, everything that a land would trigger, Yedora's face-down lands trigger, as well. He's basically the perfect combination of aristocrats and landfall in a neat green package.

Btw, if it isn't obbious enough, play Sakura-Tribe Elder and everything similar in the deck. Those cards enter ultra-instinct territory with Yedora.

Oh, and what I learned recently: You want Morphs with Yedora. You're welcome ;)

I've definitely been researching creatures that can be sacked for various effects, like land ramp. But I hadn't keyed into the morph interplay yet... that's pretty nuts! Thank you!

On the morph interactions, will Primal Whisperer see face-down creatures that have been made into Forests by Yedora...? My assumption is yes...?

Whoa....... Proteus Machine with Yedora, Grave Gardener and any reusable free or 1cc sac outlet go infinite too easily (can't wait to pair it with Evolutionary Leap, just to keep things fun and not a quite so boring combo)...... this was kind of a fun commander to scheme up around, but now adding morph into the picture is pretty nuts! I was already making it kinda controlly, but now I have access to a lot more gems to include in that respect! Thanks again!

And Temur Charger does the same at Proteus Machine, going infinite for free, not to mention giving all your creatures trample. Wow... Good times!

Ok, getting technical again with another question... if I cast Zoetic Cavern as a face-down 2/2 creature, and it dies with Yedora in play, since it's not a token creature, it will trigger Yedora and come back as a face-down Forest, correct?

CamraMaan Sidestepping your last question because I think I know the answer but I'm not positive...

Have you looked at Living Lands and similar cards? A creature dies, it comes back as a Forest. Living Lands turns it into a creature (and it's not a token). You now have a pretty much unkillable 1/1 Forest creature. If you do that for all your creatures and lands, you have a pseudo-indestructible mana and creature base.

Ha! I was just trying to post a question asking about Living Lands! It made me refresh this page first, and here I am. So then yes, it does what I thought it might, making the land creatures nearly impossible to get rid of. Man this commander is sneaky good! I just found it doing a card search for a Goreclaw deck, and thought it might be fun to scheme around and research a little as another commander. I didn't realize how much power was laying underneath the surface! Fun stuffs! :)

Regarding the Zoetic Cavern question: I'm not sure, but afaik, death triggers trigger in the grave, but from the battlefield. Thus, that should work.

Primal Whisperer doesn't work that way, I think, as the face down cards Yedora creatures aren't creatures.

...

Except with Living Lands.

Holy hell, I hadn't thought that damn janitor would be that complex. Gottabuild him now, I guess.

Ahh, gotcha, they are face down, but creatures... sorry, my brain takes vacations sometimes. So Primal Whisperer will only see creatures that are face-down cards, makes sense with morph cards. So it will see every creature that is a face-down card, no matter why its a creature or face-down. I can fly with that.

As I said, not perfectly sure. But it appears correct.
